Have you seen the state of all the programming threads? They're all blackpilled and regret getting cs degrees. Which they probably only got into because it has "computer" in the name and they're le pc gamer. I don't think this is the best board to ask about career deciding decisions.

tbf, you have to have a pretty high iq to get the most out of a cs degree. since cs is so popular, naturally you will get lots and lots of duds.

personally getting a cs a degree never crossed my mind. my HS kid brain thought it was fun to get a game dev degree, then i dropped that for a engineering degree, then i was filtered by college physics. currently comfortably overworked in my 10yr+ MSP career.

Lightly tapping on dirty contactors While waiting for the PLC code monkey to fly in is NOT robots.

        >watch PLC codemonkey while he works
        >realize you could have done his job better if you had rtfm
        >do your homework
        >never call him again

Right now I spend a lot of time on these things. Little robots on tracks that fly around at 30mph and function together as a big vending machine. Most of it is just diagnosing from error logs, flashing updates, and retrieving one when it fails. You have to ride around the grid on a wheelchair to retrieve one. Pretty fun.

I worked at a glass factory previously, and that was a lot more interesting
        >silicone pumps with robotic nozzles
        >tempering furnaces
        >glass CNCs
        >overhead cranes
        >autoclaves

You get a little taste of everything from basic network configuration to heavy equipment repairs. Highly recommend for my fellow ADHD anons.

How do you put this much effort into work? I occasionally go down autism rabbit holes about things I'm interested in at home, but when it comes to doing anything for a living or having a standardized test in front of me, my brain shuts off and I just want "out" as soon as possible.

          Am I moronic?

I just genuinely believe that my work is serving a good purpose. I was in college and flunked out because I couldn't see the point, and then in the military where I did the bare minimum because I felt like it was conned into it.

Now I do something that I enjoy, and I get to help people with their problems. It definitely helps to have that feeling of accomplishment after finishing a repair or improving a process or something. But I do wish I had put more effort into school because I've gotten a lot of value out of the knowledge I retained. I'm going to school again now, but very slowly. Do your schoolwork bro

i always think its amazing and critical that construction is a booming business. means we are living in prosperous times i think. like how do not run out of room, just keep on building.

Construction isn't an indication of prosperity. Rome was doing a lot of construction work right before its collapse.

If you're going into the trades then don't ask other people. Learn about them yourself and see what you like. I went into hvac but I have no interest in it and I wish I went into sprinkler fitting or welding instead, I might switch soon.
