Sure, body. Let me check my SELinux labels...wait, why only 3 services are forced to use predefined policy? What do you mean no one ship SELinux policy along with the application? What do you mean they can set anything and if I want my system to be really secure i need to configure by myself?

Although it’s true that the fedora deservedly has its niche, but certainly not safety one.

I Would say Fedora's niche would be either business server or business workstation.

I think it could work fine as a home workstation too. The Silverblue and Kinoite projects offer up a lot of potential for creating workstations techno-illiterate normies can use.

riiight, so that one backdoor being discovered means the rest of the system is "safe" and backdoor-free and you somehow know this to be a fact?

            Anonymous

You're just saying "yeah, you don't know either" but that applies to other distros as well, not only Fedora.

sure, but it applies to some distros more than others.

NTA but I have to say, this is the most c**ty attempt to not accept the L that I've seen in a long time
            >"Fedora has been affected by this exploit"
            >The current stable release hasn't
            >"oh yeah? Prove it!"
            >Gets proven
            >"Oh so you just know there's no exploits at all anywhere in Fedora 39!?"
have a nice day, the world needs less people who can't accept being wrong.

            >"oh yeah? Prove it!"
nice of you to make shit up. i was directly addressing the claim that the current fedora release is "safe". will you stand by that claim once some other vulnerability gets uncovered in that release? are all distros currently "safe" by your definition, because that one attack actually got discovered, by some miracle?

            Anonymous

It's safe from the exploit, you pretending the claim was that Fedora was safe from *any* possible exploits was an incredibly c**ty attempt to save face.

            Anonymous

durr, i know it's safe from *that* exploit, that wasn't what my point was. perhaps my original post didn't provide enough context for you to understand that from the beginning, though the other anon seemed to get it just fine. you, on the other hand, instead of asking me to clarify what i meant, you made a moronic assumption and ran with it. take your own medicine and accept that you were wrong.

            Anonymous

            It's just getting c**tier, take the L.

it's clear as day for anyone reading our posts that you misinterpreted the conversation and even greentext quoted some shit i never said nor meant. if anyone's being a c**t about it, it's you. it's a shame some people can't accept being wrong, eh?

            Anonymous

Don't need to argue about this, you're clearly hurt over being told you can't accept being wrong, you're desperate for a uno reverse card on it which says more than I ever could.
Fedora 39 is safe from the exploit, it's not *safe* from any possibly exploit. The other anon pointed out that's an inane point to make and applicable to anything, I called it a c**ty attempt to save face over this exchange

            >Fedora release is 39 and that is safe, I swear
as far as you know. doesn't mean it is.

Yes it does, version 5.6.x was marked with the bug, Fedora 39 packages version 5.4.4, and it was reported since day one.

            >The other anon pointed out that's an inane point to make and applicable to anything
and i said it's more applicable to some distros than others. clearly, i had a point to make there and would have been happy to keep the conversation going in that direction. what's inane, is you saying that one backdoor is fixed. no shit. nobody is disputing that. your conversation is literally stuck at this level and all you're doing is doubling down, because not only did you jump in, like a c**t, with false assumptions, you've also proven yourself to be unable to take your own advice and accept that you made a mistake.

            Anonymous

Like I said, the desperate need for a Uno reverse card and the insistence here that you weren't saving face but instead just enjoy making inane remarks says more than I could.

The linked article referred to the xz exploit, the exploited version of xz isn't in the current stable version of Fedora and now won't be in future versions, literally what else is there to possibly say about it?

            Anonymous

            >just enjoy making inane remarks
yeah, i do enjoy making inane remarks. where do you think we are, chief? need i quote rms on this?
i didn't even see there was a linked article. i wasn't responding to that comment. so many assumptions from your side. the cracks are really showing now.

            >literally what else is there to possibly say about it?
i've been trying to give you an example of where this discussion could go, but you seem really fixated on pointing out that a backdoor got discovered and that it got fixed, even though nobody was disputing that. don't act like you're interested in "what else is there" when you are the one insisting on keeping this discussion at moron level.

            Anonymous

Oh so you jumped in to the conversation like a c**t and made a presumption that the anon was saying Fedora was perfectly safe from any exploits?

Honestly pathetic at this point, out of pity I'm gonna have to not reply to the post you're already thinking of making right now as you read this, just let you free from your own poor decisions out of mercy.

            >Oh so you jumped in to the conversation like a c**t

            >and made a presumption that the anon was saying Fedora was perfectly safe from any exploits?
nope, merely steering the conversation into a different philosophical ground, clearly an alien concept to you, as noted by your tendency to fixate on inane shit

            >out of pity I'm gonna have to not reply

Distros that are closer to upstream are more susceptible to attacks of this nature. Nobody sane would use Fedora or Arch in contexts where security is critically important, though that's not applicable to the vast majority of use cases, including shitposting machines.
