    >Is it really a humiliation ritual as many on here claim?
Not really. I make good money and that helps a lot because I can do what the hell I want and I don't need to care about money. If I want to spend 500$ on random bullshit and I don't suffer from it, I've got plenty of more cash.

And that's the thing. Work hard, get a position where you get good pay for what you do but not stress yourself to death. A good job is a job that you enjoy doing and you are good at it.

It takes time before you are there but when you are you are set for life to do whatever you want and have money doing it.

Cope. You don't have the time to enjoy these things. Besides, which luxury that is worth it still costs money today? Only the basic cost of living has become expensive. Entertainment is basically free.

I think it depends on the job. I work in a factory and I like it. I'm making good money and have made some cool friends, also my social ineptitude has largely vanished since I'm actually interacting with people on a regular basis. I even got a gf since I can actually talk to women.

I can't tell you how many times I took every shift change or extra so he can go on vacation, have a dya off, did the work for him paper work... So he dosent have to... seven years I had one sic day, one day off for a funeral and one for surgery vs this fool.

But it's my fault, I am poorly qualified and everywhere I would go I would still encounter someone who is only able to do jobs K do, and theyre usually a neusance and I end up pulling the cart.

I started at 9 and was total shit until about 14 (where I was only mostly shit). Honestly every dev sucks until about a year to a year and a half at their first job, the prerequisite is knowing how to learn things on your own. Overall I have more than 20 years of professional experience now, but was making good money for reasonable work from about 3 years in.
If you have a systems oriented mind at all it is the best life hack: everything you need to do it and learn it is free online and if you have a github project and can answer interview questions no credentials are required.

Unless you're lucky enough to have a job like the two guys above, being a wagie is soul-destroying. You wake up every workday wishing you didn't have to get out of bed. You drag yourself into the bathroom to get ready for work. You spend far too long commuting to your job, which you don't want to do and every aspect of which you loathe with every fibre of your being and all the time your brain is saying "we could be doing something far more interesting right now you know" and tormenting you with visions of enjoyable shit.
Except for on rare occasions you will despise your bosses. You will despise everyone for not speaking up about the endless fricking inclusivity brainwashing you're forced to fricking watch, including despising yourself because you don't want to be the one to tell them to frick off with it and shove it up their ass.
Odds on you'll have zero interest in the field in which you find yourself working, like 90% of everyone who is doing something not by choice but by necessity of needing money. You'll wonder why you got your degree, because you won't be using it.
If you marry a roastie, congratulations, you're now obliged to hear her b***h about how she hated her day at work, when all you want to do is forget how shit your day was.

    >must be vaccinated and boosted (eight total shots now), even if you work remote
    >must wear a mask at all times on company property and while representing the company off-site, even on Zoom calls
    >must be vaccinated against monkeypox
    >frequent mandatory training on diversity, gender non-conformity, white supremacy, systemic racism, and trans awareness
    >constant fear of being replaced by AI, overseas workers, diversity hires, etc
    >must participate in company team-building exercises after-hours and on weekends (masked up, of course)
    >must surrender control of your social media accounts to HR so they can log in and look at everything you’ve ever liked or posted
    >must sign equity and inclusion pledges saying that you will denounce your inherent racism and bigotry (white workers only)
    >sliding scale pay reductions so that your annual salary is slowly replaced by quotas, benchmarks, and performance measures, some of which are company goals that you cannot influence
    >must be available 24/7 via all communication channels and ready to work at a moment’s notice, any hesitation and you’ll be fired
    >must submit information about your wife and kids to the company for no apparent reason
    >must agree to company-wide mandate to sponsor a “climate migrant” in your home

Working for the mininum wage. You're promised a promotion a year or two down the line. You put up with a lot of shit. You don't have time for lunch breaks, your better paid coworkers eat takeout while you eat a sandwich your mom made for you (if you even got the time). Your manager openly dislikes you and tries to get you fired. The customers go to the shop to vent. Sometimes pretty girls ask you for help. They're not for you. Remember to smile. The customer is always right.

Do most people in Croatia work? I can't imagine that there are many Croatian NEETs at all

Half of our population doesn't work. Most of them are retired, some are disabled, or just stay at home women. 1/3 of our college-educated youth (including me) is unemployable. Neets here are well-educated, but considered good for nothing since they're useless at menial jobs, but there's so few white collar jobs in this country. Most of the millennials and older zoomers fricked off to Ireland and Germany, leaving a huge age gap. Us continentals are forced to neet or to work for minimum wage while the good jobs are reserved for politicians' kids. The coastal people don't need to work. They turn every unused piece of land into rentals for tourists. The shit tier jobs are now being filled by Flips, Jeets and mystery meat. I wish I could get neetbux, but there's no such thing.

sounds pretty dystopian. and it's very sad because Croatia is such a beautiful country

It's a beautiful country, just not for an ordinary young man. It's for the 200 rich families and foreigners, just like in the old times when feudalists and the Church took the best land for themselves.

I don't mind. He's going to live a dream life here. It's just unobtainable for Croats. Our wages suck compared to the rest of Europe and our prices are insanely high. Tell him to enjoy it before the next tsunami od Indian immigrants come and we become the poorer version of Canada.

Thinking about stopping going to work.
I've been working there for years now but I think it might be time to stop soon. It just doesn't do it for me anymore, it's not really helping me in any way. I don't get any benefits, hasn't helped me with women, or with meeting new people and it's barely enough money at the end of the month. I'm not getting any joy out of it anymore like I used to. It also eats up too much of my time.

So yeah after waging for many years, on and off I admit, it might be time to finally call it quits and move on with my life, so my new years resolution was to quit work and just frick everything. I won't be paying any more bills, taxes, utilities, fines, groceries or any other financial obligations. First thing I will do is stop paying rent, which should be one year or so until they evict me, will trash the place real good at the end either way. Just not going to participate anymore that's all.

    >Is it really a humiliation ritual
Yes. You get used to it but the first couple years it was painful. People see you dirty, working a shit job, your bosses do nothing and scream at you.

    It's hell.

Idk, I install gutters. Sometimes it sucks mad ass, yeah. There’s only 2 of us so no real point of doing anything inefficient or slacking, because you’ll just be in for a later workday.
Just don’t abide bullshit, be ready to quit at a moment’s notice. You’ll be right.
