Are all typewriter users loners? Either that or they cohabitate exclusively with deaf people

I've got a restored Smith-Corona from the 40s that I found at a junkyard. Obviously I don't use it because it's unwieldy and impractical

I WILL ONLY USE A TYPEWRITER AFTER THE ELECTROMAGNETIC CONFLAGRATION, AND ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES BECOME USELESS.

WHY WOULD I USE A TYPEWRITER NOW, WHEN THERE IS A BETTER TOOL FOR WRITING: THE WORD PROCESSOR?

There was an anon who posted an awesome story about his days carrying one of these around and thinking he was being a badass until he actually got to using it kek. That was a fun green text.

I used to use a royal, until I realized using physical typewriters in the modern day was fricking stupid.

Might get a digital typewriter so I can force myself to write instead of browse IQfy, but the invention of the word processor was a modern miracle

What's so bad about a physical Typewriter having multiple writing mediums is a good thing

The thing can jam, you have to maintain the ink ribbon and make sure it doesn't misalign, there's just a lot of working parts you have to micromanage and upkeep. When everything is working fine typing on it feels very satisfying, but it's just too inefficient.

A digital typewriter carries the appeal of a mechanical typewriter without the drawbacks

Why not just use pen and paper? A digital typewriter is just a laptop without internet

it depends on what your writing, I use pen and paper for rough drafts and type it out when I have it good before editing it a bit. But I think a type writer would be good for a perfect rough draft, it's nice to have an immediate printed copy after finishing up a poem or whatever i'm writing at the time. I don't own a type writer but debating on getting one.

mine is a called 'the keyboard attached to the laptop'. It's homosexual I know, but I make up for it by writing in public spaces so EVERYONE knows I write

I've been thinking about getting one lately because I don't like writing everything down by hand, but I'm more productive if I get away from the computer and television (also, keeps the elites out of my business, a bit). I have no idea how to even choose one, however. I want something small and portable.

Are you going to travel with it? Why do you want it to be portable and small?

So I can take it anywhere I want to and write, of course.

You'd be better off getting a full size typewriter so it's more stable on your desk. The portables tend to move around because they're so light weight. It will be more comfortable to get a full size and it should have a case you can put in a car. Please don't take a type writer and use it in public, they're too loud. Just bring a pad of paper and a pen if you want to write in public.

My point is more that the digital typewriter is pointless. You'd need a printer if you wanted a printed copy. I use and like my typewriter and would suggest you get one, but just avoid getting a digital one.

What's your problem? Are you Asian? Stop worrying about how I live my life and what I may or may not do in a public space. Frick off.

Why are you giving advice? Did I ask for it? Are you my parent? Are you my teacher? Is this a thread where people come for advice?

What made you into the manipulative and arrogant shit that you are?

I'm defensive because you're on the offense. Whether you present you commands as "advice" or not, they are attempts at control. I reject those attempts with all the contempt and force they deserve.
