The lowest. Elric, your pic, is objectively better. For frick sake, Andrzej Sapkowski didnt even realize why people were reading his books until the 3rd. And why they had 0 success outside of his region of Poland.

Wasn't he the one who translated the Elric novels into Polish in the first place? Explains where he got a lot of the witcher from.

What tier is the elric in the dark fantasy novel? and What are the dark fantasy novels in S tier or A tier?

Mid-tier. They're okay but there's not much to really distinguish them other than some ideas that Moorwiener popularised. S tier dark fantasy are those by the Lovecraft circle, Howard, Ashton-Smith, Hodgeson, etc. but towering far above all the rest is Tolkien.

          >We fought far under the living earth, where time is not counted. Ever he clutched me, and ever I hewed him, till at last he fled into dark tunnels. They were not made by Durin's folk, Gimli son of Glóin. Far, far below the deepest delving of the Dwarves, the world is gnawed by nameless things. Even Sauron knows them not. They are older than he. Now I have walked there, but I will bring no report to darken the light of day. In that despair my enemy was my only hope, and I pursued him, clutching at his heel. Thus he brought me back at last to the secret ways of Khazad-dûm: too well he knew them all. Ever up now we went, until we came to the Endless Stair.
          >The entire setting of Middle Earth is a miserable world where magic is dying and evil and industry is winning
          >The glory days of Gondor are long lost, never to be regained
          >Human kingdom of Arnor and Elven kingdom of Eriador turned into empty wasteland
          >All the best and brightest heroes long dead in battle
          >Things are getting so miserable the elves are just up and leaving completely
          >The entire Silmarillion
Don't let the whimsy of the Shire and the simplistic Good vs Evil story fool you, the entire setting of Middle Earth is peak Dark Fantasy, a melancholic world were the best is long past, corrupted or worn down by the forces of evil. While there remains beauty and hope, evil can only be beaten by suffering extreme hardship and trauma that will never leave those affected. You must remember that Tolkien was a veteran of the Somme, and you can detect some of that experience in his writing.

        >Tolkien

If your story is age appropriate for 12 year olds it is not dark fantasy.

Sorry but Elric is poorly written and plain boring story-wise. Stop pretending that the more popular thing is worse

i think Sapkowski is a bit of a pervert but not to the same level as GRRM
but when reading the witcher i couldnt help but remeber a quote from a psycologist about the game of thrones books; "it was clearly written by a pedophile for pedophiles".
and i wonder if the same was true for the witcher as their were a lot of parts that made it seem like maybe the police should check whats on Sapowski's hardrive

Dark Fantasy is fantasy fiction heavily infused with horror fiction elements
A common mostiff is that the supernatural (sometimes including the divine) is evil and horrofying

The original short stories are pretty-decent tier. The actual novels are below Chinese MTL cultivation tbh.
