I've colorized shell scripts and people lose their shit requiring me to add a mode to disable it.

        Anonymous

that's because colour escape codes aren't nice to deal with when machine-reading the output
so yes, any program with colour support should have an option to turn it off for scripting purposes
maybe some people also don't like the colours, idk, but there is a real technical reason to want plain text

          Anonymous

you shouldn't be emitting ANSI escapes through stdout, your script might be part of a pipe, check if your output device is a terminal before using colors unprompted.

If you're already on the Pro variant I'd say no. The biggest advantage I'm seeing is the M3 Pro has been wildly impressive for playing vidya and using LLMs. If you were upgrading from Intel it's another story.

I'm on GNOME 3.36.8, so the currently active window is displayed on the top bar, which in this case was the terminal so I could run neofetch to show my laptop's specifications, that's all, I'm really not using the terminal much, though I admit that it's seen more use from me than Windows' terminal alternatives, by far.

I think it'd be better if Linux moved a bit away from it since it intimidates people and stops the whole thing from growing, but people also need to actually look for stuff more and not be scared.

I don't mind Windows all that much by the way, I like Linux a lot better, but Windows works well enough despite my issues with it, and I also used the terminal sometimes to uninstall bloat.

i thought it was more of the fact linux to this day never got a functioning gui. its still a mess and terminal applications are still the way to go. apple might be homosexual and full of monkeypox and aids, but at least it matured and refined over the decades. while linux hasn't progressed at all.

        Anonymous

        >matured and refined over the decades
Still lacks basic functionality and need a 3rd party app to be usable
Window snapping is shit you need to install angle to fix it
alt+tab is shit you need alt+tab macos
afloat cause you can't have windows on top
Karabiner elements cause you can't really configure hotkeys.
And of course they tend to break from on updates too.

Let's put finder as an example, I want folders first, or last I don't care, you can have those in finder only if the folder is sorted alphabetically, what fricking joke is that? I usually sort by date, but that way folders are scattered around, wtf are they thinking to have the make "folders first" only work when alphabetically sorted?

And sonoma? wtf were they thinking I've had less bugs going from kde5 to kde6 than going from ventura to sonoma, what's refined on macOS nowadays? it has gone to shit like pretty much all software released lately.

still better than linux that after 16 years still doesn't have a fully functional display server with wayland.
its baffling how much of a cluster frick linux is that they can't even compete against a bunch of monkeypox infested, aids spray homosexuals at apple that focus more on sucking wiener, as a man, than anything else. linux is an absolute joke because its developers are a joke. you're worse than a homosexual. let that sink in with how low you are.

As i said I've less problems in kde than on macOS, as a matter of fact I'm using linux on my mac mini cause albeit I develop for it I can't fricking stand it so as soon as I close xCode I boot on linux, I just hope asahi keeps getting better cause the actual hardware is not so bad (albeit everything is soldered and having normal amount of ram cost premium)
