I don’t watch ecelebs on YouTube. People below 25 are fricked because they need a friend simulator and someone to tell them what to do for every hobby in their life

So you don't watch YouTube? What the frick do you do then?

I work on technology development or repairs, photography, building models and working in my community.
Why would I need to watch some 30 minute video about what YouTube celeb thinks about a product?

And yet you are here. You know there's no need to lie on the internet.

NTA, but holy frick what an awful fricking zoomer response.
I pick out the content and activities I want to do, and don't default to whatever is "free" (it's free for a reason because it's all product placements and ads where you're the product).

Personally, I've set up a NAS that has a bunch of old games and shows I wanted to watch from the past that I use in my downtime. NAS also has old ROMs/ISOs for old single player games I occasionally will pick and play that I never had a chance to.
But honestly I had more fun in setting up the NAS than I spend time actually consuming the media. I constantly try to find projects to do. Over the past 6 months I helped in reverse engineering a game that went end of service and brought it back online under private servers.

Same, I started my NAS 3 years ago and have archives of tv shows music movies and game ISOs roms and other things. I never have to go anywhere else to watch stuff nor do i have to pay a subscription to watch or listen to anything

Very nice anon. I've had my NAS for 8 years. I haven't paid for a single subscription service since and have been knocking out lots of old cool shows. I managed all of Gundam Universal Century over the past 3-4.
Also been enjoying old games. Like reading old books. None of this modern daily login gacha drip feed bullshit.

Not him but I put YouTube videos on my garage workshop but it's mostly history videos.

Eh, that's more respectable, but I still don't like big daddy algorithm shovel feeding me its garbage and ads. I have Pawn Stars on my NAS and I'd sooner just put that on than YouTube history stuff.

As a history nerd I take offense with Pawn Star. Shows like that ruined the History Channel.

That's fair. I'm definitely a huge fricking normie with history. I actually liked Pawn Stars but the "Reality TV" that came after was absolute fricking poison.
I think my broader point is get all the history shows you actually like, put that shit on a NAS and get like Plex or Kodi and just stream that to your garage. Ultimate curation.

I studied Engineering, later in life as I grew older and went deep into the history of Rome rabbit hole and now I'm taking Latin courses in order to read the original documents in their native language.

Very nice. I've been to Rome. Was cool to see. I take history at a very surface level though. Always been more of a technologist at heart. I do data engineering and have done backend web. I enjoy playing old video games, both from a story and a technology perspective. I have aphantasia, so reading books and the like doesn't do it for me. So video games made for a good outlet.

Pawn stars is better when you realize it’s just a history show disguised as a bartering show. If you’re autistic crop out the second that deal with the sale and just watch the parts when Rick and his son big sos talk about the history of the items
Back when Netflix has PS I used to watch it in my comfy afternoons

It's a good background show for sure.

I work mostly embedded devices mostly in Assembly or C. Planning on retiring soon in order to travel the world as I never been outside the US.

            Anonymous

Ah very nice. Embedded sadly doesn't pay as well in most cases. I don't do embedded much myself. My employer sells embedded tech and I've written a few applets but I mostly stay in the cloud.
It's good to travel outside the US. My first time going to Europe definitely gave me more appreciation of the US, despite its shortcomings. Dealing with the government in the EU makes me realize why we seceded and that the EU never learned its lesson (being completely genuine, and I'm not shitposting by the way).
Still worth going just for the sights though. Definitely perspective opening when you stay in an old building that's 5x the age of your country.

i don't give a frick about your gay ass youtube grifters, Black person.

Been with my company for many years so I'm in a Senior position so it pays well. Was able to buy a house and get the kids through college so couldn't ask for more. Me and the Ms are planing to go to travel the Mediterranean around next year. Already have certain ruins and ancient buildings I want to go but gotta take the wife to more fun normie places along the way. I was planning on going to Algeria but that was a bust as that country is a pain in the ass to get in which is a shame cause the ancient city of Hippo Regius where St Augustine is from is there. It's incredibly untouched by modern civilization.

Very nice. Wish you the best on your travels. We're definitely in different times in our life. We just had our first kid. I've been with my place for about 6 years and got my house during COVID around 3ish years ago.

in current year you have to. there's so many compulsive lying scumbags taking money from business to shill cancer. youtube have tried to address it over the years but they literally don't care because it makes them money. a shit load of australian youtubers, instagram and tiktok users ended up with enormous tax bills this way because they were taking cash and products and not declaring any of it. they want to run their "social media" as a business yet are surprised they have to pay tax like any other business.

they're scumbags that need to be gassed. these are the same ebegging Black folk that take cash/products from corporations in exchange for favourable reviews and have the nerve to cry poor and beg people to give them money via patreon while they also make cash from ad revenue. if i had my way these people would all be shot. since i can't do that for legal reasons, i installed blocktube to filter out these lowlife parasites.

To be fair LTT is very explicit about their sponsorships. You won't see them pulling a fast one like

    -attention-whoring
