Aegon is a plot device to drive Dany to madness. She'll finally cross the narrow sea with her army of slaves, savages and sellswords only to find Aegon seated securely on the Iron Throne with lords and smallfolk alike in love with him, and not many people want her around. So of course she'll have to destroy him.

This sounds pretty plausible. Makes Dany's whole journey even more useless

This. Cersei is gonna bomb the sept, causing the people to rise up in a storming of the dragon pit round 2. Cersei and Tommen either flee the city or get torn apart by peasants, then fAegon waltzes into the city and takes the throne.
Danny shows up furious, and Connington goes bell crazy somehow setting her off and she torches the place, or torches the belltower setting off dragonfire chain reaction she couldn't have seen coming.

            Anonymous

I think Joncon is the one who will blow up the Sept it just makes sense giving the whole thing with church bells giving him PTSD to the Battle of the Bells.

I reckon Tyrion will tell Daenerys about the wildfire at some point then do what Jaime did to Aerys after he realizes it was a huge mistake in bringing her to Westeros and she plans on doing something horrible with it and murder her but he'll receive a far harsher punishment because he's a dwarf.

My theory is that Winds will conclude with the climactic final battle against the Others.
Dream is one big denouement showing the alliances forged to fight the Others falling apart and the resumption of stupid infighting, until somehow Bran ends up on the throne.

Winds could wrap up all the storylines started from AFFC but I think Martin could still do the time jump maybe have it in the epilogue of Winds or potentially at the beginning of A Dream for Spring

The real question is did GRRM write Winds of Winter with the intent of it being a penultimate book with everything being set up to end in 7 books or did he write Winds of Winter knowing that he would never finish the series so he just decided to drag things out for the sake of world building

I think we're getting an eight book

Aegon is a plot device to drive Dany to madness. My working theory is that Aegon will wind up with Sansa who is the younger and more beautiful queen from Cersei's prophechy not to mention I think it'll be pretty fitting that Ice and Fire ends with a Stark and Targaryen alliance somehow fixing everything they started only difference is that Daenerys has taken on the role of Robert Baratheon this time around while Aegon and Sansa are the Rhaegar and Lyanna. The last straw that sets off Daenerys madness is Aegon being taken from her by Sansa

Speaking of aegon, what would he do with tommen and myrcella? They are innocents by all accounts, but also the enemy ruler.
He could easily justify an execution, they are not just enemies but bastards, bastards born out of incest at that, but he seems like a good kid in the few charpters we see him, if a little reckless

Also how do you guys think the northern plot will progress? Is the mannis really dead?

            >we're getting an eight book

I'd feel a little cheated if The Long Night starts at the end of TWOW and then a massive time jump say ten years in between the last two books and it's easily wrapped up early on in ADOS.

            >Speaking of aegon, what would he do with tommen and myrcella?
Doesn't Tyrion have that poison he keeps on him in case of emergencies? It's been a while since I've read ADWD but I think there's going to be some circumstance where Tyrion might need to apply it to Tommen but I think the last two children will also die via poisoning like Joffrey did.

            Anonymous

I think Cersei will go mad and accidentally kill Tommen and Myrcella
Stannis will capture Winterfell with the help of northern lords and then have to hold it against the Others. I would think that Stannis will have trouble dealing with the northern lords and may tragically die to them before Rickon is brought back, but George has to wrap this shit up so maybe Rickon will return before this shit is an issue.

            Anonymous

            >Speaking of aegon, what would he do with tommen and myrcella?
He will have to kill them. period. Bastard-born or no, they still have a claim to the throne until the day they die.

            >Is the mannis really dead?
He loses the Battle of Ice and flees to the Nightfort where he burns Shireen. This resurrects Jon Snow (whose body has been preserved in an ice cell) who is acclaimed King In The North because of Robb's decree. We know Davos successfully finds Rickon, because in a leaked note from the show GRRM says Stark direwolves (plural) will fight Ramsay's dog pack. These direwolves have to be Ghost and Shaggydog. So the Battle of the Bastards does happen in some form, with Jon leading an army of Skagosi and wildlings to utimate victory over the Boltons.

Tommen jumped out a window and Myrcella caught super-AIDS from a gay kiss. Ay Jon didn't have to murder anyone but his sister-wife, then he abdicated the throne to the Night King who possessed his foster brother the crippled pervert. Y'all think you're so smart with your books, but TV-watchers knew how this series ends years before the author abandoned it to write video games.

Judging from fatman saying it’s the biggest book yet and it’s on the edge of what they can even print in a book to be in series with the rest, plus endless delays, I’m willing to bet that the publisher will urge/require him to split Winds. They get to double dip. Maybe they’ll do some mental hurdle like “oh it’s Winds part I and II not an extra book haha”. I doubt Georgie is that attached to it being 7 books considering his inflation history.

He can’t control his narrative as previous books have shown. Book balloon and become two books, what was supposed to be three is projected to be seven. My guess is Winds will be overstuffed and he’ll have so much shit left over it’ll be a half book extra he’ll cram into the next. Or if the publisher is feeling greedy maybe they’ll split a book again.
As to what he intended, he wanted to have a whole epilogue book for some time now, after the main business is concluded. Probably because of his autism regarding wrapping things up neat (eg. Ruling is hard, blah blah). It can’t just end when evil ice man gets ganked and some ruler lives happily ever after.

I think he won't release anymore

I remember early calculations of 2014/2015
    https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/1lhjlu/spoilers_alls_a_mathematical_proof_which/

I think George doesn't want to go to the main story and will focus on side material.

      Anonymous

Assuming George is not lying (which is quite the assumption itself) and he has 75% of the book completed, someone will take his material, his notes and stuff and finish it after his death.
A dream of summer will never be released.
And that's my most optimistic prediction.

        Anonymous

        >75%
It's just odd to me, he MUST have tons of scrapped material, I refuse to believe in a decade he didn't write a thousand pages.
How much stuff has he realistically scrapped because it didn't work out as he hoped?

          Anonymous

To be honest, I think that 75% thing is a lie. George has lied and backtracked so many times that until I have the book in my hands I refuse to beleive a single word he says. I'm pretty sure he barely has anything more than the chapters scrapped from Dance, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to work on the main series anymore.

          Anonymous

I think he wrote nothing while the show was out. The 75% number (Probably 65% in reality), is basically everything he has written since 2020.

Writing isn’t just putting words on a page and seeing the word count increase daily. You revise, rewrite, change entire sections, swap characters around, merge them. For something already as dense as ASOIAF changes can cause ripple effects that undo tons of work.
It’s often a lot easier to write a beginning simply because you’re not married to anything yet. You have no framework to stay true to. You just write and see where it goes. It’s when you have to tie this together into some point it gets really hard.

Most books don’t die finished, they die because they can’t be finished. Authors can spend a lifetime trying to complete a certain book.

This isn’t to say he’s blameless or has been working diligently all this time. You just seem to have a weird idea of writing. Likewise all the people who wailed that he hadn’t written anything for a year because he was stuck on the same page count. That’s just not how it works.

It really could (and should) work this way. After the Ghiscari are crushed, one chapter can describe Mantarys (the city of monsters) and the demon road. One chapter to overthrow the local elites and gift Pentos to the Tattered Prince. Two chapters of a vicious slave revolt/massacre in Old Volantis. Last chapter has her stepping foot on Dragonstone.

Is a Cersei and Aegon marriage alliance even plausible or is every dead Lannister a good Lannister? I think it'd be an interesting twist if they met and fell in love rather than kill each other like everyone expected it just shows how Cersei lucks out into everything again. She's kind of like Pippin with breasts in that regard he does something the Fellowship consider moronic and that it'll frick up the trip but it winds up actually unexpectedly helping them.

Both of them are being pawns of Littlefinger and Varys has to have some deeper meaning they are both living under different identities hiding who they really are from people I also can't help but feel like the connection between the name Alayne Stone and Mel's prophechy about waking dragons from stone. Maybe I'm looking too much into this because they both have the word stone in them but it's interesting that would be picked as a fake name for Sansa.

Littlefinger will engineer an accident so he won't be able to marry Sansa. He has death written all over him. I think something interesting is going to happen to Robyn though maybe Sansa seduces him to have more sway and power in the Vale which could lead to Littlefinger's downfall.
