when did you realise that phones don't matter?

You guys realize that phones are really just for web browsing
>Social media apps
just web browsers
>Financial apps
Just web browsers
>Transportation apps
just web browsers

>buh buh muh camera
if you were into photography you'd know it's total over processed shit and only good for picures of your dog ro family
>Buh bu muh gaming
You have to be a moron to play shitty gotcha games on a phone
>bu buhhh muh video playback
Imagine wanting towatch a video on a tiny screen
>muh music
If you haven't bought some specialty mp3 player with lossless files anything is good enough already.

That's why all you morons that seethe about being poor, itoddlers and jeets are moronic. You;ve been tricked into thinking arbitrary specs matter at all.

My phone stays switched off until I make a phone call. I would get a landline if I still could but mobile is also convenient if you break down or whatever I guess.

i use my phone for searching and communicating, i have no social media installed everything is wrapped in isolated browser due to excessive spying,

I suspected it in high school in 2014-2015 and i realized that basically phones today are nothing more than
        PURE.
        HOT
        GARBAGE
a few years ago when i was homeless and i saw that i literally couldnt get by without *A* phone because the apps were essential for like uber and phone calls i.e. going from city to city or the fact that government services like SSA literally will not communicate with you through any other means like a free messaging app than a real phone number.

I havent shared this anyone i know, its that i did a simple math calcualtion pertaining to a value of an iphone in terms of aspects of its innovations vs its price in some kind of ratio(i forgot what exactly what i calculated) but i came to the conclusion that pretty much all of american society, is based around asepcts of your life that is centered around devices you rely on, mostly your phone. I concluded that phones ARE *NOTHING MORE THAN MACHINES MEANT TO DRAIN YOUR INCOME* based off how much you pay for them on a year to year basis pertaining to how phones are no longer a timeless piece of hardware that COULD last you the rest of your life, (a la a real game console that has a 5 year lifespan and more if you maintain it) which is now not the case as most people trade them in and replace them much more often and dont really get much value in return.

Tldr; i realized phones today are 110% meant to be machines to enslave you, not so much steve jobs era iphones imo. Tbh if i didnt NEED modern apps to get by, i'd have an iphone 5 coolbooted/downgraded to ios 6 as my daily driver but ios 6 doesnt support modern apps, and despite apple re-enabling the app store in ios 6 recently, apple did a purge of early ios apps in like 2013 or something. I.e. my favorite games jelly car and ishoot, literally got lost to history because of a stupid corporate policy change that apple made. Look it up its all true.

So. I run with this(pic related) as my daily driver everywhere i go now as like a pseudo "iphone 5"

i got the cheap r36s it's comfy tbh

Steve Jobs realised this, which is exactly why there was never going to be an app store originally

jobs was just a marketing genius, he was always onbe step ahead of the market and knew exactly what normies needed hens he introduced app store later when xcode environment was ready

NTA but i am, ofc if I say it upfront I'll get mocked for it by the same people who are the biggest promoters of isolation without even realizing it. I remember when I was a kid wishing for more things to be able to be done online so I can deal with people less frequently irl...
Can safely say now we went way too hard in that direction.
Give me an excuse to attempt doing shit irl but I guess now I'm the idiot nevermind "sorry you need to fill this out online now".

Absolutely this. Phones are a cluster of sensors and a web browser.

it's mediocre and heavily overprocessed, buy a compact if you're serious about taking photographs on the go

Im not going to be carrying around my mirrorless with me everywhere and Ive gotten some very nice photos with phone cameras given the right circumstances

Why not carry around a camera? Just get a pancake lens for your existing mirrorless, or else a nice point and shoot.

Iphone 5S was the last ever phone I felt I needed for spec upgrade to have smooth internet browsing and I got that used and after that I have intentionally slowed down the upgrade cycle to buy two years old model of used iPhones for best value and remaining usable time with updates.
3G-4S-5S-SE-SE2020 been the last phones for me and now im looking for used SE2022 at the right price to justify upgrading.
