I got those exact ones in a bankruptcy sale from a local Gander Mountain. 8 towers, 3 good B+W printers, and a dozen barcode scanners for...$20. Not each, $20.

Go hunt for failing business that use tech, get in early when they liquidate.

Lots of business come next year when windows 10 expires and they have to offload all the computers that could run windows 11 if they forced it, but won't because it would violate some standard or policy.
I'll probably just put ours on ebay or something.

      full computers may be tricky

but CPU, motherboard, RAM is easier (power supply remains then a problem?)

      here's the price:

Core 2 Duo dual CPU - free
Core 2 Duo quad CPU - maybe 5 euro if its around 3 GHz, if its 2GHz its not worth to use, there was no turbo, turbo was invented in 2nd gen core i7
      LGA775 motherboard - free

      4x 1GB DDR2 RAM for LGA775 - free
      4x 2GB DDR2 RAM for LGA775 - free
      4x 4GB DDR2 RAM for LGA775 - 50 euros, DO NOT buy
      4x 1GB DDR3 RAM for LGA775 - free
      4x 2GB DDR3 RAM for LGA775 - free
      4x 4GB DDR3 RAM for LGA775 - free

      LGA1155:
      3GHz dualcore CPU - free
      3GHz quadcore CPU - 10 euros?
      motherboard - 10 euros?
RAM : look DDR3 RAM above
also 4x 8GB DDR3 for LGA1155: its around 40 euros, I seriously recommend to NOT BUY, get 4x 4GB instead

    literally Africa.
you can even find some high end CRTs too.
some white dude in South Africa found about a dozen of """"ultra-rare"" Intergraph CRTs in a ewaste dump and resold them for thousands of dollars.

computer parts like CPUs and RAMs are actually quite robust. if the computer doesnt turn on, it is most possibly because of some passive components like capacitors or the traces on the motherboard being physically damaged. but these literal Africans doesnt know better and they probably smelt the whole thing for copper.

you could have prevented this, IQfy. but you wont.

Universities usually give out old stuff to people. It's how I got my desk (a laboratory table) and two old optiplexes.

schools were a great source for cheap machines back in the day if you just found the IT guy. nowadays idk how schools are about some random dude just wandering around asking for free PCs, but I got my pentium 3 machine back then for 20 bucks.
Beyond that, fb marketplace and CL. ebay sucks shit because of shipping. garage sales are hit or miss.

schools/universities have deals with pc vendors to buy hundreds of pcs every few years so when that happens it's the best time to snoop around, ask someone working IT when that happens, they don't plan to make any cash back on the old pcs so it's usually pretty free

govdeals is a good resource. This is where a lot of people buy stuff to resell online. I am currently using one as a pfsense router.

Put on a polo shirt and khakis, walk into an office building, grab a computer, leave.
