I'm just so fricking annoyed. Please just point me in the direction of a normal ass pc case like from the 90s all metal where you could kick drop it down the stairs and it barely dents, meanwhile you sneeze and it barely tips into my desk and explodes.

Fractal used to be primarily known for their steel-paneled cases and still offers it as an option in a few, the Torrent for example is one of the best on the market in terms of cooling and is offered with all steel side panels.

can recommend the torrent, best case ive ever had. the 4090 fits just fine

Cool only one I can find is glass paneled though. The solid is sold out everywhere. Looks like glass is going out of style.

            It’s not, I assure you.

I would also recommend the Fractal North with the mesh side panel. Perforated steel rather than solid, still much stronger than glass, and excellent thermal performance.

I once accidentally sat on my tempered glass panel, I put it on my chair seat as I was about to clean the interior and forgot about it.

    The thing didn't break.
I'm a fat ass and it carried my weight just fine.

If your tempered glass breaks from a slight contact, then it's probably either because there was an unnecessary force that was stressing the panel like an overtightened screw, or it made contact with material that was harder than the glass panel like ceramic tiles are notorious for this.

      Anonymous

That makes sense. Your fat ass evenly distributed the weight across the entire surface of the glass, whereas OP's hit the corner of his desk, focusing the force to a single point. Tempered glass is designed to completely shatter when hit with a fine point.

i had the same issue when i was shopping for computer cases a year ago. I couldn't believe the utter state of the PC parts industry, especially the cases. I loathe glass and plastic panels. I never look at my computer, and if something's wrong I'll just remove the panel and look inside anyway so no need for that transparent crap. It's just another thing that can break. And I hate things that break or explode after a few months. I also noticed how tiny cases have gotten and how few drive slots they have. Frick the airflow meme.

Anyway, there are very few good ones that lack a tempered glass panel. Look for fractal cases.

    i love the glass
I also put an ip pan and tili web security cam inside my PC, looking out, its all black really hard to see with its own power supply from and external seperate plug

No one is expecting this, the glass functions as a one way mirror, as it is sort of smokey.

I have already caught one person out who was tryin to steal some of my stuff, the specifically looked around the whole area for web cams ( saw them look all around the room) but could not see this one,

Looks tiny. The real hard part comes in finding a desktop case that supports eatx + more than two full size hard drives + no glass. Filtering for that alone leaves you with about 3 choices max between available new cases at any moment. 3u/4u server cases just suck ass and cost hundreds of dollars too much because theres no market. I'm never getting rid of my coolermaster storm trooper. No RGB shit, no gay glass, great cable management, space for full size radiators, space for ssds, hdds and 5.25 bays, dust filters, hot swap 2.5 bay, and a big ass steel handle. Thought it would be 5 years future proof and now 15 years in it seems I'll have it for life

Small business computer stores have black boxes, some even have bays for optical drives. If all you have are ssds and end up with a case that requires aftermarket ssd mounts save yourself the money by using velcro squares or buy screw tapping tools to add your own screw holes to the case, just make sure you get the right ones for what you want to fasten, i.e. 6-32 or m3 pilot drillbit + tap. I buy screws from lowes in bulk, usually comes out cheaper than buying them in a computer store which will try to sell in multiples of four.

Just use it without the glass.
