      Just use an older version?

      7 is vista sp3
10/11 is 8 with bloat, system settings is Black person bloat
      XP is king

Baby duck syndrome is a physiological analogy about how ducklings will follow whatever they imprint on first. And is translated to represent the idea of what someone experiences first is best and they ignore anything newer.
So it’s used to describe people who prefer older operating systems, since they’re usually inherently nostalgic and attached to a particular version of windows, and they stick to it as the best in their perception and ignore the newer operating systems.

In the case of IQfy its just one mega autist who has spent far too much of their time drinking the Microsoft shill kool-aide who is positive the mere existence of a windows 7 install will result in the total collapse of society because it’s a point of security vulnerability.

hinges, build quality and plastic is much better, no flimsy elements that break (x220 is cracked in 3 places), easier to disassemble, much more performant cooling solution, useful leds compared worthless ones on x220, genuinely better looking screen, lighter, infinitely smaller bezzels

the difference between Vista and XP is that XP was able to be used in mediocre computer released in the year 2002 but Vista WAS NOT useable by mediocre computer of the year 2007, therefore Vista was bloat

actually Win 7 works better than Vista in low level hardware

it is possible to boot up Win 7 with 1GHz Pentium 3 CPU, 512MB RAM altough is terrible
but it runs slightly better than Vista

I tried disabling all but one core on a Windows 7 machine, and the difference was staggering despite being way above spec. It simply demands some threads to efficiently multitask, but is otherwise not heavy.
Nu-Windows will somehow get the fan running minutes after booting on an 8-thread laptop due to inbuilt services alone.

Basically they’re really upset that even when people are provided the information about the inherent risks of an older os, and even after they accept that and simply reduce what they comfortably put on these out of date machines, they still choose to use the out of date machine.
          It went like this
I want to use windows XP, I like windows XP.
          >don’t use windows xp, it isn’t secure anymore
That’s fine, I’ll not do anything important on it, I have a modern phone for my banking and shopping and such.
          >well, no web browsers work fully on it
That’s fine, I’ll use a feature limited browser, and otherwise it’ll just play old games.
          >having this device on your network is a security risk
That’s fine, I choose to take that risk.

And because regardless of any warning provided, the person is intent on using the old operating system, the Microsoft shill is unable to simply let it be. They did their part in warning this user of the risks, the user weighed the risks, took measures they deemed appropriate, and ate the remaining risk.
But that’s good enough because they didn’t win, they didn’t stop the user. So now with no more material to present or argue, they simply resort to shit flinging.
          >frick you baby duck poorgay Black person

I think they're seething more because:
            > I have a modern phone for my banking and shopping and such.
Normies used to be on PCs 15 years ago but now they're all on their phones instead. But they can't accept that PCs are no longer mass market normie devices. That's why they keep trying to put phone interfaces on them, turning them to shit. They don't want to let PCs be specialist devices used for work with a mouse and keyboard. It's like an old washed-up actress getting plastic surgery to prove "she's still hot."

    -Proper virtualisation.
    -Running modern software.
    -Booting from NVME drives.
    -Having USB 3.0 ports ootb.

To do an actual work, you need a decent, up to date machine and there is a reason why e-waste is e-waste. IQfy NEETs seem to ignore it because they usually dont do any actual job on their computers. pic related is actually sandy bridge Thinkpad (13 years old by now) that can do virtualisation and few other things but in 2024 it really starts to show its age and I cant really imagine doing any serious work on it even with up to date software (let alone with deadshitos).

Two different machines for two different use cases. My windows 7 and older hardware fits assorted niche purposes from a digital diary of sorts to old games, dedicated drafting stuff, or just to have reference material when working with old operating systems and software.
The newest machine being an i9 desktop is for modern games, and current software in general. My Thinkpad x230t with windows 7 can’t play halo MCC in 4k. My i9 desktop can.

Even if you take games out of the equation, even though that’s 90% of why I have a modern system. The modern system also has nvme storage and aforementioned i9 to do 4k video editing with minimal hassle.
