Newton. Tesla is 2nd. Really though, this list is shit. Euler was the greatest mathematician who ever lived. A personal favorite of mine is Kurt Gödel, who turned 2000+ years of Mathematical assumption on its head and made ten times the impact in Mathematics for that reason alone than anything Einstein did in Physics. There are other greats like Maxwell, Gauss, Poincare. Hell, Einstein himself said that his intellect was nothing next to John Von Neumann's. Stephen Hawking doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as all these other guys.

>first to comprehensively explain the motion of the planets and derive the equation Galileo's free fall, first to understand the principle of gravity >inventor of calculus (alongside with Leibniz)
Newton basically invented theoretical physics from scratch with nothing to go from other than Kepler's laws, Copernicus' ideas and Galileo's pioneering in applying basic mathematics to physical problems

>Stephen Hawking
complete meme

>Albert Einstein
Took a lot of ideas from Poincare, Lorentz, Riemann and many others. His theory of relativity would probably have been invented by someone else, had he not done it before. He's overhyped.

Newton and Tesla were all about figuring out ways to make explanations that fit the universe they observed.
Einstein and Hawking were primarily interested in finding ways to make the universe fit their explanations.

Definitely not Hawking lol.
There is Hawking's Radiation, which is a cool theory but without any practical application, but he doesn't have a single great theory he made by himself. He was just a celebrity who explained modern physics for dummies.

>Tesla was an engineer not a scientist,
Even if he stylized himself as such he wasn't a good one. I don't believe was a licensed engineer though. >not sure why you dismiss his contributions though.
What "contributions"? He was one of Edison's worst employees, he failed all his projectscat Edison's labs. In the modern day he wouldn't even be allowed into gradschool nevermind survive on the research scene. >Lots of the modern world runs on his patents
He didn't invent multiphase motors (due to Ferraris), nevermind the actual important things like AC transformers etc. due to Gibbs etc.

He just repatented European inventions in the American market, then he was popularised by his business partner Westinghouse and his investors in a two decade long shill campaign to try and combat Edison's popularity in the war of the currents.

This what reddit is wienersucking: a media shill campaign. Telsa himself did not make any contributuins to anything, he was just a businessman contrary the stereotypes about him.

Replace Hawking with Da Vinci. Leonardo invented art techniques, made many discoveries about anatomy, he used artistic techniques to show many useful illustrations of those anatomical discoveries (some of which are still used today). He may have been the one to pen the travels of Marco Polo which was likely a collection of different accounts of travelers on the silk road. He invented the first halfway feasible schematics of a flying machine, and he created some of the greatest paintings ever to book.

Meanwhile Stephen Hawking discovered nothing and made no good inventions.

Leonardo is kind of overrated too, to be honest. Frick, throw Archimedes in there. He mogs all of them as far as I'm concerned. He was effectively anticipating the work of Newton by almost 1000 fricking years, not to mention all of his engineering achievements. We still use the Archimedes Screw today.

>He was effectively anticipating the work of Newton by almost 1000 fricking years
In that he was thinking about infinite sums/geometric series, which is an aspect of calculus.

AC power is keeping my lights on and allowing me to type this bullshit so I'm going to go with Tesla second Newton but not for what he is known for but his schizo alchemy and insufferable autism. Einstein is a fraud that ripped off other scientist and was upheld by a clever media campaign. I think Hawkins was just some moron and had a handler that programmed his speech synthesiszer like he checked out a long time ago.

Tesla

Isaac Newton by far

Newton

Newton then Tesla

the other 2 are memes

What exactly has relativity ever done for ME?

Makes your GPS work

Every time I see this pic, I wonder, wtf is this hat!?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaperon_(headgear)

you are mathematically and scientifically illiterate

Thought provoking.

Newton > Einstein > Tesla > Hawking

Physics is literally divided into Newtonian and Einsteinian.

Newton > Tesla > Einstein

Hawking is not relevant

Newton > Tesla >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Einstein >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a trained octopus > Hawking

Stephen Hawking is about as much of a scientist as Bill Nye

Tesla and Newton both knew a lot more than what they published. The other two talk a lot about things they knew nothing about.

>The other two talk a lot about things they knew nothing about.

Einstein? Why so?

Newton and Tesla were all about figuring out ways to make explanations that fit the universe they observed.

Einstein and Hawking were primarily interested in finding ways to make the universe fit their explanations.

But Einstein made specific predictions about the world that turned out to be correct.

Name one.

Newton

Definitely not Hawking lol.

Hawking is only notable for his speech machine. Newton is so far above the others it's baffling why they're even there.

>Newton is so far above the others it's baffling why they're even there.

*blocks your path*

Go ahead and circle him in OP's pic

Leibniz's contributions in math and philosophy were essential, but OP's pic is clearly talking about Physics for the most part.

None of them are even in the same ballpark as Newton, everything we know about dynamics in science is based on Newton, not to mention optics etc.

The second most influential is Einstein, Hawking's work is just based on GR.

Telsa didn't make any contributions to science.

Tesla was an engineer not a scientist, not sure why you dismiss his contributions though. Lots of the modern world runs on his patents.

Newton>Tesla>=Einstein>>>>>>

I would have to say Newton by far. His observations were the basis for a lot of philosophical thought.

Where would he rank?

He wouldn't.

Nowhere

Black Holes evaporation.

Archimedes is cool to but that is your last pass to diss my wife Mona Lisa.

2000

None of these people were impactful

newton above einstein far above hawking far above tesla
