they learned that most people aren't going to buy a new $500 console to play an exclusive game. people just play whatever game their current console or PC can run.

exclusives are a trash business model and i'm glad they're dying imo.

gaming really isnt about hardware anymore so consoles will inevitably die out. it's surprising to me that xbox still sells units

nah, i play on pc and even i want an xbox, i miss games just working, like just being able to buy a game and play it and not have to mess with 100 different settings and pray to god it has controller support so i don't have to download a special key remapper program just to play it.

also microsoft is buying up all the good studios anyway so the writing is on the wall for sony.

they do for the most part, but honestly video games are dying. the infinite growth model is not sustainable. the size of the games are growing so fast that pretty soon you'll need a new SSD everytime you buy a new game. the newes CoD game is over 300GB and it's been speculated on that GTA6 will be close to 1TB. there is no way any of that is sustainble.

don't worry soon the crash and burn will come and then it will be great again.

As in time major studios will die new will arise and new ones will strive to better and more resilient then thier precursors.

There's no way I'm spending 4x to emulate the same games. The concept of console exclusives should be constitutionally banned

capitalism has to be kept on lifesupport to survive, if you actually tried a real freemarket it wouldnt end well, essentially you'd have a downward spiral of price wars which doesn't last long before business owners realize the only way they can survive is to form mafias that threaten other competitors with real world physical violence. monopolies are the end game of all economic systems, except under communism they are state owned. only problem with communism is you have to rely on the state to distribute the monopolies resources evenly but with centralization comes corruption.

It's called the FREE market not the OPEN market.
Free as in freedom not as in cost, if you can't make your market compatible then we won't allow you.

last of us part 1 is over 10 years old, anyone who wanted to play it while it was new already bought the ps3 version, so why not sell it again to the people who never got a ps3?

They put exclusively on console first, and then on PC for the money.
It's like having a movie in theatres and then releasing it for rent.

    >can play the exclusives of the two consoles I can't emulate either, at better resolution and framerate, with mods (sometimes just have to wait a little longer for PC release)
    >can pirate almost anything for free

playstation is a hollow shell, taken over by parasites(usa). the 'power' of consoles with exclusives is that they can innovate, both in software but more importantly, hardware.

sadly most people are moronic and 'investors' don't like risk. enjoy the perpetual dual shock iterations.

Because their game sucks and they are incapable of making interesting stuff. No one will buy a console just to get roughly the same experience you can get from different consoles or PC.

That's why Nintendo can still benefit from exclusives just fine. Even if their game aren't "great", they are interesting and/or really good at catering to specific niche, like party games.

because they made consoles absolute cancer to use and it's starting to show. if nothing changes consoles will die off quite soon.
