That was the last good Android
      •They fricked up storage speeds
•Locked down Android/data and obb folders
•Slowly killing Linux on Android (termux still depends on older Android compatibility to executing any program)
      •many old applications stopped working.
      •stripped off 32bit application support.

No? Android 11 is the same but better. They changed the interface with 12.

Android 11 enforced scoped storage making gallery and music apps 10 times slower.

No, I'm using Aves, and it works. It's only in the Google Play Store.

You're getting 10 times slower speeds even when using old apps. I know this because disabling FUSE breaks scoped storage apps but makes old apps much faster.

Just use applications that support scoped storage instead of clinging to some dead shit that hasn't been updated in half a decade. There are plenty of minimal foss gallery and music player apps that support scoped storage
            >Bu muh updooter bad

I have come to understand that "ruined" in IQfy terms actually means "polished" almost anywhere else.

      Anonymous

      >polished
It's obnoxious not to have a dividing line between GUI sections. It takes focus away from what you want to focus at (I.e webpage) because it floats together with browser elements (I.e navigation bars).

Crap like moving tabs to the window title pane is a smooth brained mixing of application data (i.e tabs of open web pages) and OS GUI.
It's not practical unless you have a tiling WM. Now to "polish" it even further is just Graphical anti-User Interface of no consideration for non-developers who have grown in with their product and because of that have the sense of which elements belong to which abstraction layer.

'Polished' design doesn't have to mean visually but can refer to practicality - the ability to find the right button with the least amount of fuzz in the way. ONE line, even a dashed or dotted line, shows the user more respect than no separation at all.

Straight up, this is the truth unfortunately.
And it's not even taking good parts of the iphone UI. It's just the awful visual shit.
Thank frick that most of the good functionality from the older versions is still there, like a functional notification drawer instead of apple's nightmare notifications that are almost less useful than not having them at all.
We had it so good from ICS to Kitkat. I didn't realise those were the golden days.

It pissed me off how lacking Google was with updating their own shit. My Pixel 2 went from Android 8 to only Android 11 but an iPhone from the same year is still receiving security updates to this day and saw 5 full OS updates in its lifetime.

      Holo was so fricking nice.
Material 1.0 was okay, but this latest disaster is an eyesore.
What happened to AMOLED blacks? Shit was so nice at night pure black. Now, everything has to be grey and looks like goddamn IPS glow.

        Anonymous

They were sorta tech limited. Those early AMOLED panels would build heat and burn-in with anything that wasnt super black(pixel off). Android before Holo was very white, and they had to change it for AMOLED. Later, once the tech got better they could go back to using more colors and the super dark stuff went away.

Do designers think it looks ugly? AMOLED black backgrounds for spotify looked so great. At night in the car, it'd just be like floating words in the air.

After using a phone with android 11 for a while, seeing what android 12 did to the UI and seeing that android 13 did nothing to improve I bought the last phone that runs android 9. Gonna use it until it disintegrates. Not my first rodeo, I skipped versions 5 to 8 entirely as well.

A12 quick settings design is actually better for elders, because it tells them what each tile does. The other major change is dynamic color system, but who would complain about having more options, they even added more colorful palletes now.

I went straight from android 4.0 to 14 after finally ignoring /spg/ tards telling me not to upgrade for a literal decade. It's ok but they really didn't change fricking anything after all this time and just made the timer interface even worse.

Scoped storage by itself is not the problem. The problem is to implement scoped storage they had to ditch sdcardfs and return to FUSE.
