It’s pretty well established that all the ‘Russian architecture’ which the culturally chauvinistic Russians constantly pat themselves on the back for is completely borrowed from elsewhere, with most of it being built and designed by Italians, Frenchmen, and Germans.

The climate is more difficult, the trade routes are further away. The population density is low, making it difficult to concentrate resources.

In the Russian Empire, and even earlier in the Russian Tsardom, Principality of Moscow, this was not a problem - yes, architects from Italy, France, and Germany came to us to work for us. It was we who gave them work, just as craftsmen from Byzantium, Bulgaria and other countries used to come.
This narrow understanding of national "chauvinism" flourished under Stalin after 1945. Then, indeed, all achievements and discoveries were declared “Russian” (=Soviet), even if they were obviously made by foreigners. The

The Eastern part of Europe has pretty much always been noticeably behind the western part of Europe since antiquity. Much of Western Europe was part of the Roman Empire and has that architectural, intellectual, political, and cultural development heritage. In addition to those immense foundational building blocks, which never took off as much in Eastern Europe due to the lack of connectedness to that empire and its influences, Western Europe (which was already ahead by the 1400s) rocketed beyond Eastern after the discovery of the New World, to which Western European powers had considerably more access, thus leaving the Eastern powers in the dust to squabble amongst themselves.

Either that or Slavs are Asiatic animals which can’t do anything right. It’s gotta be one of the two.

It's neither of these. The very fact that you don't know the answer to this basic question tells A LOT about supposed superiority of "the West".

If you read any of the chronicles from the 7th-11th centuries it's the only conclusions you can come to. But fricking hell, you could even go back to the Greeks and Romans millennia earlier.

So? During this period the Rus was receiving large tributes from various western Euro nations including the Byzantines so they'd stop raiding like the savages they were. Who cares if you used some of this gold to make a church when 99.999% of your c**t was barren forests and marshes

All the oldest cities of the Rus are in the north, what is modern Russia. Kiev itself had to be conquered from the nomadic Khazars before it was Slavicized. The modern hohol is truly the most delusional and moronic creature.

The southern Occitans of France have a greater claim to independance than Ukraine
