probably going full fedora on this, but it's not reading that requires the brains, it's being able to focus and grasp ideas. not a lot of people are able to focus, let alone grasp ideas, unfortunately, not only in books, but in other mediums as well.

They simply have no reason to do it as they get their enjoyment elsewhere.

Probably because most people find it at least somewhat straining to read as opposed to watching a movie or sportball or to gossip or whatever. I think smart people do all those things as well though.

Because most people are not intelligent enough to think about what makes people intelligent, or that there are different kinds of intelligence and the word "smart" has almost no meaning.

Because it takes patience, sitting quietly, minimally stimulating, and concentration. Midwits need to constantly stimulate themselves with audio & visuals. If you're not like that, you automatically stand out, but it isn't because you're necessarily smart, the normies just got worse.

Books are still the best source of knowledge and man's greatest connection to the genius of the past.

Because people who read tend to be smarter.

Not saying that people who read are 130+ IQ people. Most are midwits/women, but a rung above dimwits

This guy should've been a wake up call for society but he was such a little prick that people were just able to say "well he's creating his own problems by being mean" and write off his mistreatment

I can't support this with more than intuition and 41 years of life experience, but I think that anyone who reads regularly is smarted than anyone who never reads. So like all stereotypes it's based in reality.
Even among women who are not known for their intellects toy find more wit amongst the readers even if all they read is schlock rape fantasy.
