Python is kind of like a Hollywood coke prostitute
pretty on the outside, ugly on the inside
the syntax can be quite nice, but
every real implementation (including optimizing/JIT ones like PyPy) has a GIL that prevents multi-threaded execution
as other anons have stated, the dependency and package management situation is a nightmare
virtualenvs are decent, when they work
anaconda will frick your $PATH and .bashrc and your entire OS install if you aren’t careful
the runtime is also just super resource-intensive when it doesn’t need to be. as a point of contrast, Lua, even though it makes some stupid decisions like one-based indexing, has some amazingly lean and efficient implementations (PUC, LuaJIT) that are often used on bare-bones microcontrollers and even embedded inside other performance-critical programs like games

yes, but there’s a lot of libraries (and possibly even Python core/stdlib) that are not compatible with it (which is also true of PyPy, to be fair, IIRC). I also have a hard time believing it would produce binaries anywhere close to the performance of those from gcc/clang C/C++ with all optimizations enabled. given those two caveats and the wide-spread availability of code LLMs today, I think most projects would be better served by actually porting to C/C++ if they needed something like that. still would be interesting to see it benchmarked and library compatibility chart

Not to mention that manual memory management is crucial for maximum performance such as in supercomputing. NTA but there are executives using LLMs and supercomputers to do stuff without even knowing any programming languages let alone memory management. The general trend is for everyone to abandon knowing how things work and to let the computer do the thing. And if you need more performance just pay for bigger GPUs silly.

Yes because unlike the decades before 2000s where only ultra-nerds became programmers, today every witless normie becomes one for the money
There is a huge need to abstract things away for them, because the less they do the less they can frick up

But top tier companies will always need giganerds who know how to code in low level languages and they are the backbone of all the tech industry

I used python when it first arrived and then it good worse and worse. I dont like a language that changes syntax in arbitrary ways for no apparent reason. Also whitespace is stupid as frick.

3.10.12, it seems like the default on ubuntu 22 and I haven't bothered updating yet. A lot of libraries dont support 3.12 and up
      >package/env manager
      python3 -m pip/venv

    It went to shit.
The purpose was to have a programming language that would run everywhere, and now you have to be careful with its environment, it varies so much you have to use containers, and it becomes too bloated easily.
