    its a stupid concept tbh
not only it opens on the usb thing which makes it prone to accidental opening and breakage
but haing it on the wrist exposes it to accidental shock. thus damage.
    and theft.
    its a bad idea.

        hmm
starting with this concept, id go with a watch instead of a bracelet.
the actual usb part is jarring
its a plastic box attached to the bracelet and looks ugly.
with a watch, you can mask the body of the usb as a watch.
then the body needs to be metal.
youre contantly banging your wrists around. just notice the movement you do when you start typing on a keyboard.
and finally the opening cannot be on the usb part, its the weakest element of the whole contraption.

id say the optimal solution with this format is actually a watch, with either a small usb key hidden into the watch or a retractable usb cable

Encryption exists... making "losing" the device completely fine! (you might lose some $$, but at least not the data)

Then again, encryption exists, making it fine to store your important data available one the web... nothing to lose / you'll always have it.

      Anonymous

Are you sure that your encrypted files are going to be impossible to decrypt forever (or for as long as you're alive)?
Intelligence agencies are known to gather and archive (for an indefinite period of time) all the data they can get their hands on, specifically so that they can decrypt it once technology allows it.

        Anonymous

idk man, you can always add more hoops until you feel safe enough I guess...

Let's say you make the (encrypted) files only available if you happen to also know some random URL path for your webserver, that's one extra hoop. Sure it's security through obscurity, but it's a hoop that prevents discovery of the data in the first place, same way you do that by "hiding" the data (unencrypted?) on a bracelet. Also, side note, if you fear that future tech will break current encryption methods, then you only really HAVE security through obscurity left to rely on.... Once a third party knows where to look, you're "screwed" either way. Now personally, what's harder to find, a usb stick on a bracelet vs a memorized url (kinda like a password). There's always the $5 wrench option, where you willingly give up anything to avoid torture... I personally don't care to optimize for this kind of attack, as almost everything is broken by it. A lost bracelet however could be found by some smooth-brain with half a brain cell & searching up "current year decryption methods" some time in the year 2069.

Sure there's the fact that the system itself is hosted "somewhere on the cloud" so if an attacker gets physical access to the disk... or maybe they can get access some other way, and then obtain the files directly from the filesystem without having to guess the random URL path... etc, but it's still "more hoops" worth considering. and I reckon they are a harder hoop to jump through than a bracelet despite its flaws.

I feel it really is a problem that warrants an appropriate level of care. Security is always a sliding scale of convenience vs security. Most of my things don't matter enough to warrant the sacrifice of convenience (the web is very convenient and usually always available)
