People don't buy anything anymore and don't own anything. Everything is a subscription rental with phone home telemetry

        >phone home
        >telemetry
        redundant.
        >People don't buy anything anymore and don't own anything
true. Let me reword it then: Because people still accept it. There's no immediate problem about it, so even if there's a potentially much better alternative, they won't care. Hell, i'd go as far as to say that they'd reject it because, "It's not convenient!"

            >solidworks or protools or aftereffects
            >useful
Useful for what purpose exactly? Most people aren't professional engineers, music producers, or video editors. Most people simply need a web browser, a word processor, and maybe an email client, all of which you could get on just about any OS.

Because slop consumers love it, people who riced their winamp in 2000s are now using Linux and get called "trannies" just because they hate flat design and/or like configuring their system to their needs.
Non-flat design is for jobless trannies, you are here forever.

they were playing it ever since those stupid Black folk decided that computer screen is just like le paper and that's why every UI must be white and burn your monitor and eyes, despite the fact that it being a light source means that dark themes will always be superior

          >I feel like graphic designers are just playing a game of monkey's paw at this point.
Graphic designers have turned into dumb Black person cattle whose only deep thought is how to jam a israeli hexagon into everything you see.

why hasn't flat design died in technology?

          >why hasn't flat design died in technology?
Because it is easier for devs to create and compose without needing the dumb Black person cattle mentioned above. The problem with 3-D bezeling is that it starts to look bad when you combine too many controls together for advanced scenarios.

I think the main decline in graphic design / UI design comes from a sort of digital regurgitation effect in artists.

For 100+ years of technology, humans were building physical interface devices for machines and appliances and tools. The language of UI is still the language of our physical world, knobs and sliders and buttons and switches are all part of the vernacular of a human being operating real machines. Thus, the 1990s-2000s of digital UI matched those physical interface devices.

But now we have a generation of artists who were brought up on digital UI, who may have never used a guitar amp but used FL studio. Who are more used to touching and dragging apps than pressing physical buttons. They are now creating the art and design of today's digital UI experiences and have thrown out 100 years of engineering and design to drink from the same Pinterest boards and Behance portfolios.

This is a problem plaguing almost all modern arts, and as such we have seen a decline in all artistic output from humanity. Video game textures and character designs are worse, concept art is weaker and shittier, book covers are dull photoshop jobs done in an hour as opposed to an acrylic painting by a master, movies are filled with cheap Chinese CGI instead of real practical effects and puppetry and quality costume design. Everything has gotten worse since the internet hit peak velocity and I don't know what's coming next.

      >as such we have seen a decline in all artistic output from humanity
      This isn't even remotely true.

The quantity has increased dramatically as we are in an age of decadence, but the quality has equally decreased. When was the last time a new painting was created worthy of putting in a museum? Have you looked at the concept art from films and movies from the 1990s compared to today? It's all declining.
