Purpose of Jellyfin is to stop people from seeding because it requires you to move and rename files to make them recognized properly.

yes it takes a lot of time to copy+paste the docker-compose.yml and type docker-compose up -d once and then have 100% of your torrentinf handled autonatically from then on, i'm sure the 60-180 seconds you spend typing your download directory into the .yml file really outweighs the hours and hours of time it would take to manually find all your torrents and organise their seeding locations that you woukd never need to do again after running the aforementioned docker command

i can totally see how spending hours of your time looking for and managing torrents is a far more efficient system than running one docker command once. it even takes so very long to write the compise.yml too i can understand not wanting to spend about 7 seconds doing that, that's quite a long time that you could be spending hoping the rip from TBP isn't a cam instead

Ah, the docker-compose, *arrs, jackett and transmission, so simple. Of course, much easier than Jellyfin being able to parse scene naming.

plex does not have this problem, but also not being a Black person absolves this problem, scene naming is for Black folk that don't know what hardlinks are nor hoe to configure their computer correctly. taking five minutes making your server 100% automatic (as in, you NEVER EVER need to touch it or even see the files or a login panel EVER) solves this problem, too
I just turn my TV on and see what movies i've got today, I don't think about it. again, took five minutes to set up
oh and I use plex btw

            Very cool.

Is it true that Plex requires you to use their botnet servers or can you run it fully locally?

            Anonymous

you need to sign in to their servers once, during initial setup. then, you whitelist your LAN ip address range and block plex's botnet in your firewall and you are 100% local. it's not any more complex than jellyfin, which also asks for a whitelist for unauthenticated access, and you should be blocking every suspicious domain in your firewall anyway.
even without that you are 99% local, you only ever ping their servers for authentication when logging in or if you don't port forward your server. theres no proxying or scanning, etc - i have checked with packet sniffer. but block them in your firewall to be sure. this is basic network security and if this wasn't your first thought that you're already fricked elsewhere on your network anyway. yeah that chromecast actually is telling google what you're watching btw

if that's not good enough then you can always stick with the substandard jellyfin. at least it's not botnet amirite

three steps and that's assuming you don't prompt the AI to make the file using your desired configs thus negating step three

It's not even about paying it's about ownership, the entire point of my media library is that it's mine with third parties having no say in it so why should I be required to login and go through Plex's servers to watch it? Or to group watch with other people? Also privacy with things like Plex tracking what you watch to sell the data, emailing people on your server each others viewing habits and shutting down servers if they have too many users. I'll happily pay for software but certainly not Plex

        Anonymous

        >It's not even about paying it's about ownership
Yeah, so you still own everything on your plex server, the frick on you on about?

        >the entire point of my media library is that it's mine with third parties having no say in it so why should I be required to login and go through Plex's servers to watch it?
Still is, and you don't have to. Plex has nothing to do with your library other than an nice and easy to use interface for you and your friends/family with an easy to use app for TVs and stuff.

        >Also privacy with things like Plex tracking what you watch to sell the data
What exactly would they be the selling data of? It tracks whats been watched to literally keep track of whats been watched in your library so you don't keep watching episode 1 of a show or if you are unsure if you've seen a movie it's got a green checkmark or if you stop halfway through you can continue where you left off. Wow, the horrors.

        > shutting down servers if they have too many users
Source? I've only ever heard of them shutting down servers that go against policies like using third party server hosting to mass stream to people which isn't what plex is for.
