If it benefits you, go for it, but don’t be surprised if good people want nothing to do with you, evil people betray you, and ultimately you are punished for breaking laws and customs. Be like every other hypocrite and pretend to be good while doing evil in secret, though be ready for it to be revealed.

It is worth it. If your observations contradict this, don't believe your observations and believe me instead. If you can't believe, then you have too much of your own devices and will have to empty your bank account and give it to me however much it takes. Keep up.

Goodness benefits you, for it brings you recognition and a place in the higher hierarchies of the universe. By embodying goodness, you avoid the flames of Tartarus and earn your place among the heavens!

      It feels good sometimes

Being a good person because it's beneficial doesn't means you're actually a good person. That just means you're selfish, but it happens to benefit other people.

Obviously. Being perfectly good results in you being abused, persecuted, and killed. You’ll need cope like Heaven to endure being good.

          >Heaven through being good.
Catholics missed the point of Christianity.

Yeah yeah believe and be saved but don’t do anything evil either or you’ll go to hell and Jesus also says to feed the poor and do good deeds but it WONT SAVE YOU! You Abrahamics are all the same. You won’t be rewarded for your faith or your deeds because your god can’t keep his promises.

One of the core tenants of Christianity is that humans are incapable of being being good people and no amount of works can please God. Therefore Salvation is a gift. Not a transaction.

That’s why I said it. Goodness only works if it is embraced on a societal level. I don’t believe in post mortem rewards and think it’s a lie concocted by priests and prophets.

        don't care
I WILL help the old lady cross the street
I WILL trample the homeless people begging for change
You WILL not receive a coherent explanation as to why.

the explanation is that it makes you feel good

You don't even think win-win? You don't even have genes that are naturally sacrificial in every way? Ew!

Because the alternative is despair. If you don’t irrationally accept the only reason you exist is to create experiences in yourself and others that God will find pleasing, then you will descend into nihilism because humans aren’t meant to act selfishly

You don't have to be. But playing Darwin's game is best suited for beasts. If you choose beast, what was the point of being human to begin with?

For the sovl. If you think only of material gain then that is all you are, a bag of flesh. However you are not just a bag of flesh, you are a conscious being, there surely must be more to life than everyone stabbing each other in the back to get the dopamine coom instead of someone else.

Well, let me put it like this, anon: you are less likely to get stabbed if you don't go stabbing people in the first place.

There are no objective reasons to be a good person. If you want to be a good person, I can give you advice on what to do. If you don't care I can suggest that at least be minimally decent, for self regarding reasons (going around purely selfishly will likely land you dead or in jail). If you don't care about that then go ahead and chance it. Many people in this world are terrible and profit greatly from it. Others end up shot murdered or in prison. There are no objective moral facts that says "you ought be a good person". There's only other people's desires and motives for how you should act. And if you don't care about that then there's nothing that would motivate you.
