bullshit, desktop PCs have been being made aesthetically pleasing and nice to look at ever since they first started getting made
the idea that just because something is utilitarian that its visual appeal wasnt addressed is complete horseshit

Because you are slowly being gentrified out of owning anything other than mass-produced, globally shipped, industrial slop and computers need to fit that aesthetic or the frog will hop out of the pot.

Thats not what brutalist design means, beige boxes will always be ugly thats more in line with brutalism than most of the 70/80/90's designs.

There was also a lot of modernist stuff, but the term modernist has changed meanings multiple times since then. Back tgen it meant cream colors, sand colors, wood grain, leather, and silver accents.

Computer design was super kino in the 80's and got super bad in the 90's probably when efficiency experts got hired to run the design departments.

They weren't, all of them shared the same ugly bulky phage corpo design while nowadays you can make your PC literally anything you want with the vast amount of different parts with different looks and asthetics.

The 80's in general was more aesthetic, but also that in the 80's, the computer was a wonderous device of infinite capabilities and potential. These days computers are a prison you pay for.

    nostalgia and rarity
also their pureness and "raw" look. like old monitors have a very specific shape that are unique to them. now everything is trying to look like a plain slab of stone.
