Whyd nobody else move north before the Russians conquered the entire east? Nobody thought to look up there?

Why would the Chinese want to fight nomads just to settle somewhere colder and poorer than China?

Lack of competitive pressures for the Chinese, various nomads had better opportunities raiding richer south.
Russia throughout it's eastward expansion had to compete with Sweden, Poland and Turkey in the west so the "free" resources of the east were something much more enticing.

It's extremely hostile place to live in and until the modern times only profit you could get from there is hides which you could just buy from locals anyway
There also there multiple schizo tribes like chukcha which you had to fight(and without guns it was rather tedious affair)
The only warm ports Russia got there originally belonged to chinese(which manchurians lost during opium wars as price for getting a peace deal with the other western powers)

Depends on where north exactly. Siberia proper is like 90% of Canada or Alaska. Cold, barren, unsuitable for agriculture or most livestock besides caribou, and little obvious natural resources besides lumber and furs.
The southern regions bordering china like around lake baikal or the Amur valley actually were inhabited by people like the mongols, Manchus, and co. They were also very hostile to outsiders. Though china did occupy the northeastern part in green for some time during the Qing years.

no one knows how far north mongols at their peak exerted any control
north of the steppe there was nothing but hunter gatherers making their living in the woods

Those lands didn't have much value before industrialization made mining in them and other resource extraction feasible and beneficial.
And the climate made agriculture basically impossible except like some parts around modern day Novosibirsk and the Amur river valley area.

And those were the two areas which were settled by cultures from the south.

Notice "Magog" is in the northeastern area near "Mongul". The Quran says that the great wall was built to keep out Magog.

It's a massive, cold shithole full of nomadic barbarians, nobody gave a damn about that place until natural resources like oil and gas became a major factor, and by that point the Russians already had it.

The Siberian Fur Trade was incredibly lucrative, the savage natives were easily conquered, Russia struggled to expand elsewhere, the Cossack class was largely responsible, and the Siberian River Routes acted as a highway.
The only other centralized power which could possibly conquer the region was China, However, China is much warmer in comparison to Russia, the topography is more difficult, China is too far to sell the fur to Europeans, there was no comparable Cossack class, and they would have needed to subdue the Turks, Mongols, and Manchus on the borderlands. Only Yuan partially expanded into Siberia because they were Mongols that already lived there

If the japanese wouldn't have been so moronic and so isolated they could have conquered the nearest part of Siberia to them. Today rhey would have a lot more of land and wouldn't have space problems.

Only if they weren't Japanese, sure. In reality they would settle just enough land to be a threat to China and vie for the Mandate of Heaven. There is no world where they just colonize a little bit of siberia and retain it to this day.

Why would China care if Japan had conquered a part of far east Siberia? The chinese didn't want to go there anyways.

Russia (as geopolitical subject) was a western creatura created solely for the reason to secure resources rich, yet distant lands of North-East and Central Eurasia, especially after Sweden and British failed to eastablish Northern Sea Route (btw this is how english sailors encountered muscowites in the time of Ivan the IV) in 16-17th centuries.
This is why, no matter how officially dire were West-Russia relationships West always encouraged and supported Russia, from Emperor Maximilian recognizing Ivan the Third as equal Caesar, to dutchmen and germans aiding Peter the Great with modernisation, to Voltaire and Katherine the Second correspondence about ethnic cleansing in Crimea, Caucasus and Central Asia, to Russia supporting West in suprassing boxers rebellion and invading China from the North, to Yalta conference, to George Bush trying to prevent collapse of the soviet union and Bill Clinton shaking hands with Boris Yeltsin and giving Russia all Soviet nukes and greenlighting russian invasions into Chechnya, Transistria, Georgia, aiding Karabkh insurgency and basically recognising Russian Federation as co-caesar of Germany in the Eastern Europe (but Putin wanted to be co-augustus with US so he threw a tantrum).
