      How?

It is one of the best iterations of Windows I had pleasure using so far.

For an entire week I used it with minimal issues, main thing is to debloat few annoying functionalities this version of Windows provides.

He doesn't know what he is talking about.

You said the same point twice and Windows 11 looks better than 10. Also LTSC eliminates like most of these problems.

I would only consider it in a business setting where patches are included to mitigate the risk of botnet controls. Truth is, many IoT items are kinda irrelevant or unnecessary unless you have a disability that prevents you from doing things easily (i.e. a lamp with network functions could be useful for someone in a wheelchair who can't stand up to reach the "on" switch), but if this isn't your situation, just run your device on Linux. Just remember that your IoT devices should be on their own VLAN so if some screwy botnet shit happens that it's at least segmented away from your other daily drivers and devices.

      Is this anon accurate?

        Anonymous

this anon thinks that IoT windows is only used for IoT which is incorrect.

the fact that commercial IoT devices can be run on Windows and easily have updates, patches, etc pushed to them through a domain controller just like the rest of the devices in the organization makes it nice product for businesses already fully in on Windows (99% of businesses).

its like using windows 11 ghostspectre superlite + no def. theres zero bloat by default. in fact its TOO debloated. need to grab everything you need manually. for example if you're going to use ds4windows you need .net 8. if you're going to play crossplay xbox games then you need gaming services. and so forth.

Not much but you did lose regular support 3 years prior to Windows 7 and security updates 6 years prior to it.

Vista post-SP was pretty close to 7 anyway in terms of functionality. you didn't miss too much, just a slightly crisper look and a slightly more optimized backend

Windows 11 feels so sluggish compared to Windows 10, and it's not even the animations and shit that can be turned off, it's like doing anything takes more steps for some reason, it's not fluid, it's more style over substance. It's pretty, yes, it's pretty shit to use also, and ram consumption it's higher compared to 10 LTSC IoT.

the moment they began sneakily doing stupid bullshit to trick people into getting 11 and it was revealed that the "requirements" for 11 were completely made up and imaginary followed by the windows copilot AI needing the stupid custom processor in addition to the arm one in their new surfaces also being a totally made up requirement? frick you and frick off. just go to hell.
    yes i mad. i'm pissed.
you think i want to fricking use linux microsoft? you think i like toying around in fricking nano while idiot snobs scoff at me for not learning vi or vim? you think i like having to fricking hail mary my goddamn hardware and hope its fricking supported? you think i like having to specifically go out of my way to make files executable just to fricking run them only to find out it won't run because my distro doesn't have the 32-bit libraries installed?
but i'm using it because using a laggy, ad-filled, bug-prone, schizophrenic multiple personality disorder fricking UI-ass piece of shit was too fricking much. i fricking hate it. you idiots announced dumb copilot bullshit but won't even fix fundamental issues like OUR FRICKING TASKBAR ICONS DISAPPEARING FOR SEVEN MONTHS NOW.
i switched 4 months ago. it just "werks" but i had to put some learning in and gave up 1-2 programs that just don't have linux versions or equivalents (lazy nezumi pro for one).

they'd have to fix a lot of fricking bullshit to get me to come back because i've already sunk a ton of time into learning linux and i don't want to have to go back if i don't have to. pieces of fricking shit. frick you.
again - yes, i mad. frick you microsoft. thank frick the steam deck exits.

Is that a thing? I thought Ranjesh just accidentally something in the backend code for default window icons and that's why they were disappearing. Thank God I only use Windows at work where it's not my problem.

I hate the individuals at Microsoft so much it's unreal. I've met countless people who work / have worked there, and they either attest to it being a dysfunctional corporate hellscape, or they themselves have no attention to detail, slurp up the latest cargo cult fads without any critical thinking, or see their users as mindless cattle to exploit instead of as people who might possibly have their own agency. Almost makes me disgusted to work in the same industry. 11 is like an insult to everything I used to be passionate about.
And yet I'm stuck on it for now because muh gaems don't work well on Linux yet since I like playing them in non-borderless windowed mode, and the garbage fire that is Wayland is still incapable of handling that use case with variable refresh rate. Even so, it's incredible how I can install Windows 7 on an ancient computer, use it on an ancient 60hz VGA LCD screen, and everything other than the cursor itself will still feel palpably faster than my top-of-the-line 11 build with 144hz.

      You don't need to.
Install literally any distro and then install steam and it handles it.
Any non-steam software (games or otherwise) can be added via the "add non-steam games"

No need to do anything. Just sit tight with Windows 10 LTSC till 2032. By that time, Linux would have progressed far. By the all the productivity are already going browser mode. So no need to worry anymore. If you still prefer Windows at that point, then just get Windows 12 LTSC.
