Is all the normal windows shit still hidden behind 2 extra clicks on my desktop? Can i still not right click my task bar? is there still nothing that windows 11 can do that windows 10 can't already do?

these are all legitimate serious questions

you can right click the taskbar now but the rightclick in file explorer still requires you to click the "show more options" to see any 3rd party right click tools. Drives me absolutely fricking INSANE.

            > you will be forced to switch
This one is supported officially until 2032. Maybe by then office will be on Linux or fully in the web. Then it wouldn't matter. If not, I'll have to think about it in 8 years.

    kys 11igger.

The point of LTSC is stability.
Why would I want to be stable on an OS that sucks major donkey ass.
    I didn't use Win10 LTSB 2015.
    I didn't use Win10 LTSC 2019.
Both of those SKUs were unfinished and unpolished. Windows 10 still sucked at that point so having a feature-freeze was not a good thing.
Windows 10 LTSC 2021 is a great OS because by 2021, Windows 10 had six full years of updates and fixes. Having a feature freeze at that point made complete sense, because the OS finally felt close to being stable.

Windows 11 on the other hand, sucks ass.
The file explorer is still shit
    The taskbar is still shit.
The android subsystem failed so hard that they are removing it.
Everything about Windows11 still feels like a beta release.
Why would anyone in their right mind wish to be stuck with the current beta for the entire duration of an LTSC SKU?

Every complaint you have about 11 is subjective, with the exception of Windows Subsystem for Android being discontinued.

I, and many others, prefer 11 to 10. Believe it or not, 11 fixes a lot of the smaller rough edges of 10.

      A few examples:
      - Window snapping on 11 is fixed. 10 often fails to resize both windows of a snap when the edge is dragged. 11 does this reliably.
      - Task view on 11 is greatly improved. The virtual desktops are along the bottom of the screen near the taskbar, so all your controls are in one place. And virtual desktops can be rearranged, allowing you to sequence your desktops logically. And the jarring animation glitch when entering task view on 10 as the window title text renders is gone.
      - Quick Settings (Win+A on 11) is a great addition. Windows 10 has settings sprawled across taskbar icons and Action Center (Win+A on 10), and mixes notifications and settings in Action Center. Compare this to 11 which has all settings in Quick Settings, with time-orented things (notifications and calendar) in Notification Center (Win+N).

Subjectively, the aesthetics in 11 are superb, especially in dark mode. Contrast with 10, which I find extremely ugly and dated.

I personally will continue to run non-LTSC as I enjoy running the latest stable release of Windows. But 11 is more than ready for LTSC status.

If anything, it is influenced by GNOME and KDE, not macOS. The latter is quite unusable compared to Windows. good luck with your switch to Linux. I ran it for years but it's always a distant second to Windows in terms of overall usability.

      NEVER USED 11
      NEVER USING 11

      >because the OS finally felt close to being stable.
Frick no. I used all the LTSCs. LTSB was dogshit it made me remember why 2016 Win10 was so fricking bad. Start menu would just die randomly and we are talking about a Ryzen 5 1600 with an 850 EVO for the boot drive. It sure did not happen as often as it did on 10 Pro on an FX 8300 with the same drive but it fricking did. When I couldn't even play TF2 without random crashes I just said frick it, back to 10 Pro 1903 I think it was.
I hop between LTSC 2021 and Arch+KDE now and they both crash about as often, that is once in a few months, in the same way. Explorer once restarted right after login, before the desktop icons could load. The notification animation is still broken and likes to drop under the taskbar randomly. It's so fricking jank. KDE Wayland session I had issues with initially but it just works now. Updates haven't broken the Arch install in maybe a year.

100% a hardware issue if Windows and Linux are BOTH crashing on your PC.

Black person I'm talking 2 times since September 2023 when I installed arch, DE bullshit. Explorer crashing right after login. KDE krashing like it does. Both rarely happen.
That's absolutely nothing. I did have hardware issues with the 1600 and B350 board that caused daily segfaults in every program I ran. Linux handled them 10x better than winblows. Never ever froze while windows would BSOD daily instead it would leave me with a desktop with a moving cursor unable to do anything else. I blamed NVIDIA drivers for months until I tried windows. When I rebooted to finally run memtest it was having none of it, so it killed itself for good. I mean it completely stopped seeing RAM. The same DDR4 kit is in use now in this system and it just werks, there was nothing wrong with it, the IMC just 41%'d or the board did I really do not give a fricking shit to be honest, I replaced both.

Either your reading comprehension needs work or you're a Linux dickrider.
            His original post was:
the OS finally felt close to being stable.
            >Frick no

Windows crashing because you have a hardware issue isn't a sign of an unstable OS. Linux might be able to handle unstable hardware a bit better in his specific circumstance, but neither Linux nor Windows were designed to be bulletproof against actual CPU or hardware instability.
In case you don't remember because you're a zoomer, Windows actually used to BSOD for almost no reason at all. Like, it would be sitting still untouched and it would crash.
We've come a loooooong way since then and Windows 10 is by all modern metrics a stable OS.

            >Windows crashing because you have a hardware issue isn't a sign of an unstable OS
Never implied it. It was a somewhat unrelated ramble. You brought up hardware instabilities, thought I'd share my experience I had with those.
What I mean is, 10 is and will now forever remain FRICKING JANK, still better than 11 but a turd nonetheless. Not in its best incarnation is it as good as 7 was.
And LTSC 2019 was just as "JUST FINE" as 2021 if you ask me.

Should be relatively soon considering that the corporate overlords at IBM/Red Hat think it's time to switch. This is based off of purely anecdotal evidence, but KDE/Wayland/Nvidia finally seems usable enough for someone who is ok with tinkering a bit. I've been running it today on openSUSE with only a few issues. I didn't previously have a desktop on this machine since it was purely used for CUDA, but I got curious about how it would handle it now that Plasma 6 is out. The main issue is electron apps that run under xwayland, they'll have serious graphical issues if you don't force them to use Wayland proper. The KDE/Wayland/AMD experience has been rock solid for a year+ now though.

My work forced us to push out 11 and there a is a ton of shit broken still. Saved credentials, added clicks to get the same shit and dont get me started on the "new" Outlook.
This is bad because the only time a new OS market share dropped was because a newer OS was released. It has never happened because of a previous OS regaining users.
