Windows 95 is better then any Linux distro

was poppin guys, I have exciting news about this OS I found called Windows 95 released by Microsoft corp. Windows 95 is amazing!! Way better then any linux distro I have ever seen. But first let me tell you my story. I use to be a loser that distro hopped and riced my desktop all day. I never used computers for productivity. Linux was just a toy, but one day I found a win95.iso on a sketchy ass website with containing new linux distros. I downloaded it out of curoristy thinking it was another Linux distro but to my surprise it was a productive workstation that turned my life around from being a desktop ricer to a productive member of society. I have a meaningful career, take college courses, and a girlfriend all thanks to Windows 95.

Now to get to the meat of the argument just to show I am not bullshitting anyone.
Here are the reason's why Windows 95 is better then Loonix

1. dwm.exe and explorer.exe beat all the shitty linux desktop environments especially the bug fest that is KDE

2. vlc player from 2005 and TCPMP beat modern bloat ware linux media players. modern vlc is bloat dude

3. xscreensaver gets btfo'd by after dark screen savers and 3D maze

4. Microsoft Office 97 btfo's LibreOffice when it comes to formating documents

5. Microsoft Photodraw 97 from Adobe Photoshop 5.0 btfo Gimp. they are ages ahead of it

6. Fast Stone image viewer from 2004 is better then any garbage open source image viewer

In this thread I'll be posting about how meaningful my Windows 95 OS is to me and we can all celebrate Windows 95 here.

Theoretically, if we all just started making websites that are only compatible with old OSes, couldn't we effectively send the internet back in time? it's not like normies notice because they are all on phones now days anyway. most of them don't even own computers anymore.

IE v5 or v6 is a pretty good target. Has all the basic stuff you need and is incredibly fast. Also, as far as I can tell the source code for IE6 has leaked. So it might be an interesting project to fork IE6 and make some small improvements and bug-fixes.

also you could target old FF versions from the XP era. Me personally, i'm an XP man, it's the OS i grew up with in my youth and honestly there isn't a day that goes by that i don't think about it in someway.

FF is a bloated snail compared to IE. I remember trying to open a 2mb html file on a P1 computer, IE opened it instantly, whilst FF took more than a second.

These points are inaccurate and nostalgic for the following reasons:

    1. dwm.exe and explorer.exe are Windows-specific executables, not Linux desktop environments. KDE is a popular Linux desktop environment that has improved significantly over the years.

    2. VLC player has continued to evolve and improve with new features, formats, and performance enhancements since 2005. It's unfair to compare it to older versions of TCPMP. Additionally, modern Linux media players like Kodi and Rhythmbox have also undergone significant development and offer more features than VLC.

    3. After Dark screen savers are a relic from the 1990s, while xscreensaver is still actively maintained and has many customizable options. The comparison to 3D maze screen savers is irrelevant, as they serve different purposes (entertainment vs. functionality).

    4. Microsoft Office 97 was a product of its time, but LibreOffice has improved significantly since then. It offers more features, compatibility with modern file formats, and better performance.

    5. Adobe Photoshop 5.0 was released in 2002, making Photodraw from that era obsolete by comparison. GIMP has also continued to evolve and offer many of the same features as Photoshop.

    6. Fast Stone image viewer is an outdated program that hasn't been maintained since its release in 2004. Modern open-source image viewers like Geeqie, GQView, or even the built-in image viewers on Linux distributions have improved significantly and offer more features than Fast Stone.

Kde isn't buggy on modern hardware. Just saying. If you haven't tried it in a while, it's worth checking out kde plaza.a 6.1 when it releases here in a week. I'm on the beta and it's very very stable.

You guys usually shill Windows 7 or XP so I guess it's a bit refreshing. How do you do normal modern computing stuff on there? (Assuming you actually use it as a daily driver and aren't LARPing like you probably are).

I would argue MS-DOS is a vastly superior OS to Linux. At least it has triple-A software available for it, and probably still has better hardware support.

      >> no TRIM support
      > Your SSD is in danger
TRIM is overrated. Also, its pretty much useless once your drive is mostly full, which is the typical state for most drives. Back when I used to run SSDs on win2k3 I used about 30% over-provisioning, which worked pretty well.

      >Your SSD is in danger.
not having TRIM isn't dangerous for ssd's, it just hurts performance, which is obviously not an issue for windows 95 since it will still be way faster than anything it was made for
