Arch wiki is written for people who already understand Linux, it makes little effort to actually be useful as a tool to learn Linux despite it being sold as such

    >same functionality as ubuntu and debian except updating might frick your shit up and require you to troubleshoot for hours
lol why do people use this

    There are only two wikis:
    1. Arch wiki
    2. Gentoo wiki
You don't need anything else unless you use some turboautismo distro like Guix.

      >You don't need anything else
There is nothing else, the alternatives are random blogs, the RHEL documentation or man pages.

I haven't needed any wikis in the past while, ChatGPT solves most of my tech problems
    outdated software

I cannot trust "AI". It scrapes from multiple sources and then mixes them without any clue. Has no idea what they're even talking about

idk anon, its usually correct. sometimes it'll say something moronic but its usually easy to catch and fix it

          >specifically mention arch linux
          >a prompt later gives either ubuntu or windows instructions
          >"SORRY, you're correct. This is how you *insert topic* do this"
What's the point if I'm the one who has the constantly fix it instead.

if you don't do that, it just loops the previous response and then shits itself. "AI" is truly horrible

        >X vs Y
type searches are very often contradictory, it's borderline worthless

Bad idea, chatGPT results are often outdated or incorrect (sourced from moronic troll posts on reddit for example). Arch wiki is constantly maintained and you can even check history of every page and entry if you are worried.

so give it the url of the page on the wiki and say

I genuinely don't understand how people struggle with the Arch Wiki, the topics there are generally laid out as simply and straightforwardly as they could be. This is the second post I've seen in recent memory that's complained about the Arch Wiki being too hard to read.

        >No one wills to help.
Ah, I see, it's an ESL issue. Sorry you were born in a monkey country, OP.

I am not OP, and I am fluent in english. People on IQfy just don't care about helping. Wiki's and Distro forums exist for that

            Yeah, not quite.
            >People on IQfy just don't care about helping.
Maybe OP could try posting in the thread explicitly intended for Linux help, then? They aren't guaranteed a response, but that's why the thread exists.

You obviously didn't read. It's not hard. It's constant hyperlinking misleads people on time consumption. You'd normally think it'd take 30 minutes to read the page when infact you end up wasting 4 hours. Makes you think if you bother reading anything not knowing how much time you'd have to waste to figure something out

          >you wanna know how to do thing one?
          >first you need to know thing two
          >make sure you know this thing three that should be setup for thing two
          >Here's a github article explaining why

            Anonymous

Yes, learning how to do something related to technology generally involves learning about related tools, concepts, or other technologies, which often build upon one another. This is especially true if you want to have a good understanding of whatever it is you're doing/learning. If that's a problem for you, then sorry, maybe learning about technology isn't for you. Stick with something simple, like iOS.

did you not visit the arch wiki to learn something? i'm not sure what you're complaining about
if you think learning this stuff is a waste of time, why are you even using it?
it's like wanting to build a house and complaining that there's too much stuff to learn, like what did you expect? you can just buy a house already made if you don't actually want to learn to do it yourself

You could used them as well, but cachyos has some other "features" like:
        -v3/v4 packges (for avx/avx512 cpus)
        -o3 compiled kernel
        -sched-ext / bore cpu scheduler
        -tweaks/perf optimization ootb

makes Arch quite easy to install, yes, but after using it I had to troubleshoot partitioning because the script fricked something up regarding UUID and PARTUUID. still not a good idea for n00bz
