        a year, annual review starts
        >>2% raise
i mean, did you say "How about a 15% raise?" If you don't say anything then they're just going to give you the company standard. Your boss will do the whole "ah well i wish but this is all i can do because... reasons!" But if you appear annoyed and don't accept the standard annual raise then they will do something about it.

Having to beg for a raise is a humiliation ritual meant to put the onus on the worker.
          >Oh lawdy boss man can't you spare a few more coppers for this tired old body?
If they want to retain talent it's up to them to give enough incentive. Especially in a high paying technical job. 2% is downright insulting for what that anon did for them. Might as well have given him a pizza party and a 5$ off coupon for Denny's

            Anonymous

            >Having to beg for a raise is a humiliation ritual
It's not begging, it's being assertive and taking ownership over your own life. Last 5 years I've made at least $20k more per year just arguing for more money or jumping to a job that paid significantly better.

Alternatively, if they don't actively seek to reward top performers like anon, they'll jump ship to better companies and the business will fail. Say what you want about being assertive or whatever, but companies have to deal with the labour pool they have, not the labour pool they want.

          >i mean, did you say "How about a 15% raise?"
I did push during the review (cause of aforementioned reasons and shit lowball), but he gave the "Sorry Anon, management only allowed X amount for raises this year" deflection.
At that point it could've been the regretful truth or just slimy avoidance, the result was still the same, so I dipped.
Seems like that's how the job market is now though. It's easier to find a new, higher paying job than trying to strong arm your current one into giving you a proper raise.

And don't get me wrong there is a disproportionately large amount of israeli billionaires. But acting like they are the sole reason richgays do what they do is nonsense. People will always be more divided by class than by race. Race is a smokescreen used to keep peasants bickering among themselves instead of making richgays pay their fair share. You won't get any handouts shilling for white billionaires. Elon and Jeff aren't going to toss you a few million because you defended them online.

Richgays figured out centuries ago that the best way to acquire wealth was through using the government. Indeed the whole purpose of government is supposed to be to protect everyone from the predations of the wealthy. What was even the point of moving away from feudalism if we only replaced kings and kingdoms with CEOs and brands? I don't know about you anons but I'd rather not be someone's peasant.

As a child, my parents instilled into me that working hard was its own reward. The whole WASP work ethic thing, ya know? They genuinely believed in meritocracy and even went out of their way to basically not help me with anything. They didn't help me find jobs, didn't help me acquire skills, that was up to me to do as a young man. What I got in return was endless exploitation and abuse, and I quickly learned that the harder you work, the worse you are treated. Your reward for success is doing the work of more people.

The best thing to do in life is barely scrape by in terms of effort. Do just enough to get by and let some stupid homosexual like the younger version of me swoop in to fix the problems that creates. You will NEVER be rewarded for hard work, ever. The boss's niece will get the promotion, or the hot girl he hired and dreams about fricking when forced to sleep next to his fat pig wife. There is no justice, no meritocracy, just crabs fighting crabs.

Service sector jobs, and especially retail and food service probably have it the worst. Nearly all of the managers are midwits who don't give two shits about taking advantage of you and most of these companies are ran by boomer israelites who care about maximizing their labor for the lowest cost and are genuinely happy to see you work yourself to death for federal minimum wage.

I still don't understand this mad race for the lowest bidden. Usually the cheapest person for the job will never be the best and this has consistently caused problems when real expertise, diligence, and care was needed.
Here in the US we lost the entire town of Times Beach Mississippi because Dow wanted to sell industrial waste full of deadly dioxin for the lowest price, and their lowest bidder sold it to a guy who was spraying waste oil to keep dust from being kicked up on dirt roads.
Or we can talk about how real olive oil is being replaced with fakes that cost less than half as much.

We actually end up spending more money because we have more problems caused by people who wanted to cheap out creating a new problem that costs more if we just paid the upfront price to begin with.

The #1 reason for this is the introduction of Operational Research into the wider business world, its a branch of mathematics that essentially mixes computer science with optimization and is being hugely misused and applied to areas where it has no business being applied to. Creative industries for example.

He isn't wrong. As an actual real wagie that tardwrangles these late zoomers daily, let me tell you, they are all fricking worthless and refuse to sweat even a bit.
And I definitely get it, the pay isn't even livable without 2-3 roommates. But in the end they took the job, so they should take SOME pride in their work. Most of the slack falls on us older people who are also making jack shit.

Its impossible to take pride in work that doesnt pay you enough to live, while keeping your dignity intact.

I still work if only so I dont end up homeless on the streets and become some wandering murderhobo or something, but even then what is the point of busting your ass like that anymore? If you are a fricked up weirdo who is basically an alien from the rest of society then all that a higher level salary would achieve is somewhat better material gains, and the novelty would only last so long before that void starts coming in yet again. And thats assuming you are one of the lucky ones who does not just get outright exploited compared to the work you put in. Meritocracy has always been bullshit, its like that one proverb saying that if hard work ever meant anything then the horse would run the farm, and with the way everything is going you are basically competing in a rat race to the bottom. People are fricking homosexuals that would sooner shank you in the back to save their own hides, or just use you as the designated pack mule if you actually put in effort and pull more than your weight, and if you are too fricked up in the head to really be close to anyone then you might as well just do what you can without slaving away.

Look at it from their perspective though, what even is there to take pride in? They are not helping their community, they arent actually making a difference, they are just helping some more morons stuff their faces with garbage for peanuts. No shit the workers there dont give a frick, they know no matter what they are replaceable and basically just meat drones. These are people who grew up in the shadow of all those hardcore super wagies getting absolutely fricked by economic crises and bullshit quotas. Why should they bust their ass at McDicks when some random clown is getting millions flailing around like a moron on camera? Society has done everything it can to tell the young people of today they are meaningless and replaceable at every level for some homosexual economics bullshit, no wonder nobody gives a frick anymore.

Also the general public has grown more rude, stupid, and uncouth as years have gone by. I would rather work in the hottest, smelliest, dirtiest warehouse than deal with these entitled ape customers ever again.

Okay I'm generally with the companies are greedy and all that. But on occasion I see the other side you could say. Say TikToks where a Walmart employees is proud to proclaim if a TV is too hard to get out of the back they just don't get it. Or my experiences with a temp hired one time to do the most simple task and it's all half assed and shit and saying they want to come back. Stuff like this I can't put it all on they should just treat people better. The TV guy I suspect wouldn't do it no matter the pay. There's more people like that than I've realized.

How much is people end up where they should be? Like a cashier that can't be bothered to say the total at the end. It's like the most basic function of the job.

Eventually workers are going to starve to death because they can't afford food or they're going to pass out on the job because they're working 8 jobs to put food on the table. You can't get blood from a stone, sooner or later the human body gives up no matter your work ethic.

even $20 sounds like a major upgrade to me fml

is it hard? i dont feel like making drinks would be too hard but i dont know. i live in texas and make 12/hr doing labor. i got in because of my brother. he has been here 2+ years and still hasnt been given full time, let alone full time benefits. my dad gave up. sorry boomer but even their longest lasting employee isnt getting a raise. what do you expect me to do

it's a lot more involved than you would think. im not put on bar, so im stuck with juggling between taking drive thru orders, restocking, making prep stuff for the drinks, and/or heating up food. the only time you get stuck doing one task is if you're working morning hours and your store is properly staffed. all of this on top of having to deal with moron homosexuals that don't know what they want and whine and b***h about stupid shit make this job barely tolerable.

i think rolls in society are backwards. Being a grocery store worker is actually 5x as mentally taxing as being an office worker who's biggest problem is having too much free time during work.

grocery store should pay 30 dollars an hour. Office guy should be 15.

grocery stores are oversaturated by migrants leaving no incentive to pay more. while there is a huge population with college degrees a bunch of them can simply leech off dad so their numbers are scarce. a lot of collegegays were born into wealth. you have to offer them more money to get them to leave moms basement

I've been to multiple grocery stores, worked in a few and applied to more. Most of them are whites and non-white americans i can confidently say. The only one that wasn't full of americans was the korean owned one. They hired a team of illegals to work while they did the finer work like numbers and stuff.

But no. White grocery stores want white or american black/hispanic, fluent english speaking young workers. I worked at sprouts. they have standards for workers. I got 14$hr so i guess they raised the minimum wage by a little bit.

I can't say your post is true. First gay a got a pully (they call it a U boat) with 300 items. None of which i knew where to put. I had to manage hundreds of items. It was too much i'm not gonna lie. From what i've heard. Theres no fricking way that office work is harder.

it's literally like that at walmart. the managers and higher ups literally do nothing yet get paid astronomically more than the low-end grunts. ffs i witness them on their phones or just standing around chatting with each other. it's almost like in manual labor jobs the highest paid guy is usually the supervisor who does nothing but stand around with a clipboard.

The funny thing is that Boomers are some of the most lazy and incompetent people I've ever worked with. It's just some old dopey moron who all the young people have to cover for his sorry ass. He should have retired a few presidential administrations ago but he literally has no life, his job is his personality and yet he's not good at it.

Boomers need to fricking retire already. I work with 6 other people at my job, and all of then are in their early 30's except one dude who's 66. He can't keep up with us, he constantly fricks with what we're trying to do, but still runs his mouth all fricking day to whine about Black folk and trannies as if anyone fricking cares what he thinks.

They always talk about how hard they work while doing the least amount of work there.
          >"No one appreciates me here"

Thank the Gods the internet exists, I had to teach myself everything, even basic social interaction type shit. If I ever needed to ask for help or have a serious talk with them I had to prepare to be made fun of at the dinner table for the rest of my life for it, leading me to ask them for nothing.

I'm fortunate I even have a part time job but the moment my mom gets tired of me, I'm basically going to be homeless with a job. I guess I didn't pull myself up by the bootstraps and man up because there's NO FRICKING JOBS anywhere. Automation and AI isn't helping. At this point, I'm just considering getting on welfare or something but who knows if I qualify for that.
