>Actually we changed our mind, we're going to remotely brick it so you can't use it to connect to our service anymore AND we're not going to unlock the bootloader or open source the firmware, or let you repurpose it in any way. Why? We're just streamlining our product offerings. SORRY!

It's not my responsibility to generate profit for Spotify's shareholders nor to figure out how to save them money. They sold me a product, I expect it to work.

the product works, it's just losing access to spotify's service, which unfortunately re nders it useless

your car already has a radio in it, and 90% of new cars have a bullshit "infotainment" display you can just throw the app on if you really can't bring yourself to use the free Sirius subscription

or you can get a 15$ mp3 player and a 2$ aux cord

I was shopping for a new car a few years ago and most new ones don't even have 3.5mm aux jacks anymore, it's only bluetooth or apple carplay/android auto.

            Anonymous

you can still pair a phone to it or play right off your phone though. it also doesn't matter because if your car doesnt have an aux jack then your stupid spotify box wouldnt be able to use it either and would also rely on pairing or an integrated speaker

Yeah, I was just mentioning it. They make 3.5mm bluetooth dongles anyway

You can retrofit a decent infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (includes Spotify) into your old car for just US $100. Why do you need some kind of Spotify Car Shit?

Terms and conditions that can be altered at any time at the whim of one party is not a legally-enforceable contract, because it's unequal.

you can't actually go to court over it in the first place, they always insert mandatory arbitration clauses, because it's easy and routine to pay off an "arbitrator" to always rule in your favor automatically, whereas bribing an Article-III judge is like twelve different federal felonies.

that's right. and every contract i've ever read states as such. they also state that you should periodically check if the terms have changed (people seldom do this). everyone gets their anus prolapsed by them if need be.

All online services will eventually ghost. Even if everyone had mutually signed, witness and agreed to binding contracts written in blood, it would not matter. Companies can go bankrupt, barely change their name and continue their shenanigans. Or likewise the C-Levels can cash out and walk away, also doing bankruptcy. If you are not hosting 100% of the service, it's disposable at a whim.
