Nero burning ROM is a pun on "Nero burning Rome", alluding to the great fire of Rome that happened during the rule of emperor Nero, according to some sources he was the one starting the fire.

Note that Rome in german is "Rom".

that was actually a really common thing to do, yes, even among normalgays
computer shops literally advertised vista > xp downgrades
as for why, vista was a major overhaul over xp, this meant poorer compatibility with existing software, very limited available drivers, etc
it was also sold on 512M ram computers, while using ~350M ram on its' own (while xp only needed ~100M)
there were many advantages to using xp over vista in the early days of vista

Probably because Vista was a pile of shit. When my dad bought our family PC I installed a pirated copy of XP over the included Vista. We also used a pirated copy of Nero to burn all our audio CDs too.

            vista was fine
... if you have enough ram
... if you use new software
... if you use it with new peripherals that have drivers

that said, i remember when the same could be said about XP, i think the only reason vista is remembered as bad but not xp is simply because vista was replaced by 7 before it had a chance to properly catch on
it took me about as long to switch to xp than it did for 7 to replace vista
of course, everyone knows 7 was just a way to relaunch vista and sidestep the name, it's basically the same system

            Anonymous

The important thing is that by the time 7 was out we had hardware that was truly ready for it. It was mature and stable. We weren't trying to hear how great Vista was when it didn't work worth a shit on the mid tier hardware of the late 2000s.

            Anonymous

Most of Vista's kinks had also been worked out by SP2. But 7 was almost release by then anyway.

            1. You're a borderline zoomer
            2. Generations are loosely defined. Pew starts it at 97, but you will find plenty of sources that start it at 96. Because of this, 96 will never be true millennials. Additionally, 96ers were in kindergarten during 9/11. As I said, if you don't remember 9/11, you're a zoomer, and people generally don't remember much from being in kindergarten.

don't let the millenial anti-zoomer lies get to you
they antagonize a whole generation because their consoomer focused childhood was somewhat different than our consoomer focused childhood
It is true that most zoomers are cancer Black folk but the same thing applies to millenials, genX and the older generations.

I've got a piece of advice for you- don't associate yourself with a generation. You are you. If some stupid Black person calls you worse just because you were born in a certain year you should just ignore him because it's a literal moron.

What are you all proving to yourselves by proudly showing off the fact that you used to burn CD’s, or knew about limewire, or knew what a Floppy Disk was?

Do you think in your death bed this will all matter?

Bearshare was superior to that java cancer that was Limewire. Same network so you could download from all the morons using Limewire anyway.

It was good for burning disc images, much better than Nero. But Nero was better if you were going to do things like burn files and folders to a disc or make an audio CD.
