>Be me, FOSS weirdo giving my first public presentation
>Nervously rub my programmers socks together as my lecture starts. T-this is the big time, boys!
>Start talking about difficulties I faced in making my pet project a reality
>Accidentally insult systemd
>Literal Lennart Fricking Poettering is in the audience and demands the microphone, gets it
>Starts criticizing you and saying you're wrong. Breaks the microphone.
>"S-sorry Lennart"
>Get a new microphone. Friend pronounces "learning" in his stilted, nervous English and Lennart thinks he's saying his name, and demands the microphone again. Breaks it.
>"S-sorry, Lennart"
>Get a new microphone. "N-next slide, please"
>Slide has a criticism of dbus
>Lennart demands the microphone and gets it
>Keeps happening for the next 40 minutes
D-did I just experience a hostile work environment, b-bros? D-do I go to HR? Is this why women don't like tech?

All this proves is that Poettering is a massive homosexual who can't take criticism.

I see the problem. Browsers have these things called cookies, and you're probably logged into Google and YouTube, so it's showing you biased results. You can think of cookies like little filing cabinets where you store information (like pieces of paper with things written on them) and later those pieces of paper are taken out and read.
Try searching properly, genius. Replicate what it'd be like to find this video if you hadn't just been handed it, you fricking mongoloid.
Picrel, new connection in Tor, same results in a private window in my browser with cookies cleared, same result on YouTube.com directly, same result in videos tab, same result with "site:reddit.com", etc.

god I hate going to tech talks. so many fat smelly balding neckbeards who either interrupt the talk with an "ummmm.... ackuchullly" or during Q&A they don't ask a question just some shitty diatribe with virtue signalling by quoting some stale IQfy expecting everyone else to laugh at his great wit. And when the room is quiet you can see the incel rage just deepen within them.

Yeah okay Lennart, then why don't you stop going to these talks?

sorry didn't mean to trigger the incels of IQfy who engage in said behaviour. too real and too close to their own experience I guess.

I apologise for using a slur that triggers your psychosis wherein everyone that disagrees with you is the developer of systemd. My condolences.

Neither of them came out of this looking good. The presenter was meek and pathetic, while Poettering was childish and bratty. I would not want either of them in my team.

      Anonymous

I would've loved to have been giving that presentation, as it's the perfect opportunity to tell Lennart to be quiet and wait for the Q&A like everyone else, that this isn't his time to talk, and if he can't contain himself he's invited to leave.
The most offensive thing you could possibly do to an egotistical douchebag is publicly tell them they need to behave like a normal person, whom they despise. He'd have spent the rest of that lecture seething and digging his nails into his palms.

So if you write a commonly used piece of software you get to fly to conferences around the world and make fun of neckeards? Sounds fricking great.

I used Gentoo at the time of this.

Something to be aware of was they (the eudev guys) were spreading a lot of lies about systemd, dbus, etc.

These same people are the same group that created the libAV fork of FFmpeg and spread lies that FFmpeg was deprecated - anyone at the around at that time will remember the confusion.

I was actually pretty glad Lennart schooled these morons out in public, luzero especially was a stuck up lying c**t and I'm fairly certain most of those guys have disappeared now.

      Anonymous

They had a point with avconv/libav and ffmpeg. ffmpeg made no improvements, it was forked, then magically it started to get better and the fork was deprecated. I remember Debian switching, which I gather is a big deal.

      Anonymous

Irregardless, it's their talk. Lennart was mainly butt blasted about them forking and taking some of his mindshare.

      30 minutes well spent.

At least he's wearing pants correctly, even though that's gotta be a 80" waist. But way more comfortable than the fatties who have pants under their gunts and are always falling down.
He looks ridiculous, because fatties just do, but somehow "correctly fitting clothes" got through his autism. That's rare.

i really can't take seriously someone who tucks their gut into their pants
severely overweight people just look weird as frick to me
for the longest time i didn't even know that's what they were doing
his clothing would be technically correct if on a normal person, but they just look incorrectly worn to me on that body

Pottering just used facts and logic to point out, that this fork shouldn't exist as a fork.
