Ottomans Turks had the printing press. It's was the Quran that wasn't to be reproduced except by hand, and that was true across the Muslim World. So zero point singling out Turks.

Yes, the Quran was first mechanically mass-produced in the 20th century beginning in Egypt.
It was the Hafs Quran specifically which then got officially adopted by Saudi Arabia and most of the Muslim World. In the Maghreb and West Africa many opted for the Warsh Quran.

Nah it's because Arabic script is cursive and harder to print

        >Nah it's because Arabic script is cursive and harder to print
The Quran not being allowed to be reproduced except by hand is well known. It was considered insulting to the Word of Allah.

Mechanical printing in Arabic had already been established by Christians in 1706, and then by Muslims in 1729.
        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibrahim_Muteferrika

It was in 1803 that religious books were allowed to be published, but it took 200 years since the printing press being used in Arabic for the Quran to be mass produced.

Why don't you tell me why Indo-European alphabet translations weren't printed during this whole time?? The translations, just like the Arabic original, began mass printing in the 20th century.

funny, there's no scriptural basis for this

A religion making up rules that have no scriptural basis? Shocking and unprecedented.

Of all online racism, the two I can never understand are the anti-irish and anti-turk. It's just bizarre the amount of hate they get for no clear reason.

Anti Turkish sentiment is understandable because Turks are 1. muslims and 2. historical enemies of Europe
Ireland is like Ukraine, there's no real reason to dislike them if you're not British

Okay but european countries have been historical enemies against each other, and other muslim countries aren't hated with the same intensity. I don't see other people being compared to roaches all the time. Maybe it stems from guilt that they did nothing to prevent the fall of constantinople, I dunno.

Yeah but what about North Africa? They're muslims who conquered Spain and threatened France, yet aren't hated to the same level. The Ottomans were also allied to France btw.

You hit the mark. Their hatred of the Ottomans and Turks isn't solely because they're Muslim, or solely because they're Turkic, or solely because they ruled parts of Europe.

It's because modern Turkey makes them seethe. It's the second largest military in NATO and is the only one outside of the US that makes independent military decisions. It's the 12th leading weapons exporter as of 2021. Majority of countries in NATO are literally grab-ons who are inconsequential and be changed around. Majority of states in the EU today basically live on the welfare from the handful of prosperous states.

So there's a lot of insecurity going on, and their only way to project it is through internet comments, since in the real world they can't really do anything about Turks or Turkey.

You had Serbians ethnically-cleansing villages because of imaginary Turks, but are always on their best behavior in front of actual Turks. When Greece tried to ethnically-cleanse Turkish Cypriots following a Greek Cypriot ethno-nationalist military coup, Turkey just invaded and partitioned the island. It stopped decades-long infighting, and derailed the military coup, which benefited NATO which is why the UK and US never did anything. The only reason why Cyprus is even an issue geopolitically is because Greek diaspora/lobbyists in the West don't like it and neither did Russia/China.

Romanians and Bulgarians will shit talk Turks because they desperately want to be seen as fellow White Europeans, even though Bulgarians themselves descend from Turkic Bulgars. Serbs are themselves partly descended from Avars, Bulgars and Huns who used to reside in Serbia, before the latter emigrated there during the Early Middle Ages.
