Many people on IQfy and other imageboards like Reddit hate these things, but I love 'em. The Intel Atomic CPU is good for web browsing and playing Candy Crush in bed. 2 gigabits of RAM insures that you can have dozens of apps running at one time. For all intensive purposes, the 250GB hard disk can store all of your files without attracting viruses or electrical interfetterence.
One thing people often forget is just how crispy the 10' 1366x760 IPS LED screens are. They're great for watching motion pictures and having dozens of Facebook windows open.
It even comes with Ubuntu (a UNIX OS)! If you're interested, buy it here

Best bang for your buck is to buy a relatively modern laptop on eBay that is listed with the only thing being wrong with it being a broken screen, fix the screen and have a pretty good laptop for cheap. Requires a little knowhow and a little bit of work but its a great way to get a good laptop for cheap. I got a laptop with a busted screen from work that went for $1200 new, spent $100 on a screen and have had it for 3 years now.

If you don't have the time or know how to frick around with what I said above, this anon over here: is probably on the mark. Lenovo makes pretty decent cheap laptops. Good spec/dollar ratio but they're not the best built. Don't buy it if you're going to ape out and not take care of the thing though cause it will just fall apart.

You won't find a decent cheap laptop. You can have decent or you can have cheap. You can find a cheap laptop that's better than most other cheap laptops. It will still be slow and a bit of a piece of shit though.

    Dell Latitude 7390 (230$ Renewed)
or 120 or so used but you might need
    AC, hdd or higher capacity

Renewed might be worth it as a 1 and done buy.

A latitude 7390 isn't worth more than ten dollers
That's how much I paid for mine
The size and weight are fantastic but not having a clit mouse is a bummer
      Battery life is amazing

        >Battery life is amazing
the batteries they used for these laptops are shit, don't count on it lasting. Also the build quality is shit too, at least for the 7490. Way worse than past generations.

I don't buy expensive laptops, but I've heard some good things about the Lenovo legion ones. No clue if they're actually good though.

      legions are good.
bulky as frick tho but all the bits are more or less user replacable outside of the processor and gpu iirc and typically have the ability to have multiple drives and a 2nd battery.

        built like a tank
power supplies are cheap and plentiful
can do everything online you would need
so thick you could kill someone with it if needed
If it breaks, no worries it was only $50.

I've been looking for something lightweight good enough to work without issues, just protein visualization and bioinformatic stuff, probably some light gaming, picrel seems my favorite so far
