as for genesis+exodus, idk it's day 1 just sacrifice

You have to take into account the differing lengths of books, that's why having the whole books of samuel take the same amount of time as Titus and Philemon (which don't even make 2 pages in my bible) a dumb idea

      >3rd Maccabees
      >3rd Esdras
      What are these books, Orthobros?

        not Orthodox but
        >>3rd Maccabees
Has nothing to do with the Maccabean revolt like 1 + 2 Maccabees, is just Book of Esther: Egypt edition
        >>3rd Esdras
Literally just the first "Esdras" because there's a ton of confusion in its canonicity, is just a sparknotes recap of what Catholics and Protestants already have in Ezra-Nehemiah.

Orthodox who defend the deuterocanon but think Catholics have these as their own "apocrypha" don't get that they were not included in the Council of Carthage canon, the Gelasian decree, Augustine's canon list, or John of Damascus's canon list, which are all the Catholic and not the Orthodox canon (with the exception of John of Damascus also putting the Clementine Church Orders at the end of his canon, given that he was trying to preserve ecclesiology in the wake of the rise of Islam).

Why would you read the Bible as a Roman Catholic? That's contradictory to historic or traditional Roman Catholicism for all the "tradcaths" who didn't know that.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

"tradcaths" are just heretical, pope hating, schismatics. the only tradition they care about is preserving the comfortable church they naively understood as children.

The hardest part of this I imagine would be trying to read Psalms and the wisdom books in one sitting. With most of the other books you can just kind of read the story or glaze over aspects of it and just get through it but with Psalms and the wisdom books literally every verse is packed with meaning you are meant to gradually reflect upon.

I just finished Genesis and yeah a lot of it was just genealogy. Also, so much of BIblical pop culture comes from Genesis, does everyone quit after one chapter?

I get a lot of entertainment out of the bible. Some of it is a slog like this person begat this person which begat this person and laws n stuff, but if you get through that some of the stories are metal asf. I'm only halfway through deuteronomy. So far I think exodus is my favorite, so you have that to look forward to.

I'm going to read exodus in a few hours because I'm going to follow the schedule despite the warnings. What is your favorite story so far?

My memory is kind of fricked because i read it months ago. But there were 12 brothers and one of them was Moses (i think like i said i read it months ago) and he was the favorite. His brothers were jealous so they sold him into fricking slavery to the egyptians. Somehow he becomes second in command of all of egypt. This was after one of the king's hoes tried to frick him and when he told her to frick off she tried to accuse of him of #metoo.

Also in Numbers there is an excerpt at the top "The People Complain" and i just thought that was hilarious. People whining and b***hing is literally biblical. If we moved through time 1000 years and saw how comfy their lives were we would be like holy shit this is paradise, but another human who lives in thqt timeline would be like "aKsHuALlY here is why we still complain"

Alright I finished Exodus. You can see how God is sort of "becoming man" and prophesizing Jesus as he goes from creating the universe to living with 1000 year old people in Eden to only appearing once a generation to wrestling with people to not allowing people to see his face anymore while dictating laws to Moses. That's my opinion at least. He does more worldly things as the chapters go on.
