    No. I grab the latest from M$, then write it to USB using Rufus to disable the hardware checks and M$ account requirement, install OS, do updates/reboots, then use O&O ShutUp to disable some telemetry and other nonsense. There are more things to do but it's just for a cheap gaming system, so M$ can watch me game.

      Custom ISO are not inherently bad. Big enterprises and government's agencies are using them all the time.
      The real issue is the source of the ISO. Getting your ISO from an anonymous source on the net, who's got no liability in any court of justice, is utter moronation, yes.

      nlite is based but you can copy the custom builds too. No one sane uses Windows for important comms anyway or anything but gayming if connected to inturweebz. I keep my installs in VMs unless I need bare metal to flash an LS ECU or something which is no risk and doesn't need internet. I have a stack of old T61 for that stuff (with SSDs because I don't hate myself).

    Only one I've downloaded recently is one from archive.org, a debloated LTSC 2021. The guy documented what he did and how (you) can also do it so it's all transparent. So far I'm getting better results with it than what I had before which was 10 Home. That said when I was a kid and had an acer aspire netbook I hopped between isos for fun

        I remember you could easily make your own custom ISO with win 7 and on back and was simply just copying and pasting files and using a program to embed your files so the installation can read them. Not sure if anything changed with 10 and up so I have no clue why anyone would choose to download someone's else's ISO instead of making their own.
