You can talk about fanfiction on /mlp/ and they have a general for it, but only mlp fanfiction. I think there is also a Pokémon fanfic general on /vp/.

Fan fiction is pretty much only good when it's relatively short and unambitious. "Deleted scenes" type stuff, filling in a time skip, canon-compliant. When you get outside of that it's usually the cringiest, most blatant wish-fulfillment.

If I were a major writer I'd actively encourage people to write fanfiction of my stuff. I'd be flattered.
