i netinstall so i'm starting with nothing but apt, i install everything else myself so i literally don't give a frick about distros, you can do this with any yum or apt based distro, it would be the same if i used arch or gentoo, you start with as little as possible and just build it. that way you literally don't have to care about distros, which i just other peoples defaults

You are installing software through a package manager from a repo, that alone makes it a distro. And I guess you're using Debian's repo. You're using Debian minimal then.
