Has any black dictator ever helped their country develop, or are they all just ruthless killers with no competence?

This lad was a good un.
The trick is to be a ruthless killer with competence who does help your country develop.
Kagame
Don't forget that most of these dictators were supported by the West, who pumped their countries full of Western-made goods and destroyed local business and economic growth in exchange for bankrolling the luxurious living conditions of the heads of state
The third world needed (and needs) to be kept poor for the West to retain its comfy status quo and perpetual GDP growth
That’s just not true at all. The dictatorships in Ethiopia, Angola, Zimbabwe Sudan and Uganda were all backed primarily by Eastern Powers just to name a few. The governments nationalized industries and then pocketed the profits. Usually they then ran the economies into the ground. In many cases these leaders also engaged in genocide and had policies which resulted in massive famine like in Ethiopia for example. The problem with Africa is there is no established rule of law in these nations and the leaders don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves.
Its not kept poor it was always poor.
based and truth pilled
>“in the Western imagination, Africa is stereotyped as a continent plagued by corrupt dictators, with the supposition being that Africans are perhaps too ‘primitive’ to appreciate the virtues of Western-style democracy. But the truth is that ever since the end of colonialism, Africans have been actively prevented from establishing democracies. The legacy of strongman rule in Africa is a Western invention, not an indigenous proclivity.”

So what are all these medals for/ mean? I get WWII & pre leaders who actually saw, led & won combat. Everyone after seems to be larping, glorified boy scout badges awarded to themselves for absolutely frick all
Dictators love to cover themselves in medals, I have no idea why.
In a lot of countries the Head of State is also the head of Orders that recognize bravery and hardwork, meaning that by default the Head of State also has the highest grade in the medal of said order.
Idi Amin had actually fought for the British Army in WW2
That still seems like a lot of medals. At least when Zhukov was covered in medals, he was the commander of the largest army on earth.
he gave himself a few extra
but he earned his jump wings, which means he completed paratrooper training which is hard as frick
No he didn’t, he claimed he fought in Burma but he didn’t join the army until like 1947 and was a cook.
He made it up to sergeant in the Kings African Rifles and served in Kenya and then on cattle rustling prevention in Uganda, and then to lieutenant just before the British left. As he was only one of a couple of ugandans with commissions, which meant post-independence he was able to climb the ranks fast.
You guessed right, it's larping. Leaders should only be allowed to wear earned medals.
Does Seretse Khama count? Or was he elected?
Thomas Sankara did a lot of good things too.
Omar Bongo of Gabon
He was okay, but his son is actually a massive autist who adopted dozens of children for god knows why.
Sankara
all the good ones were pretty much killed by american or british coups, and the void they left behind gave way to all the shitty dictators that kill and are not competent - they merely wish to stay in power
Read a great book a while ago, The Dictator's Handbook: Why Bad Behavior is Almost Always Good Politics.
It does a lot to show how hard it would actually be for even a willing dicator to improve anything.
Coup d'État: A Practical Handbook is a great read as well.
Has any white did.
Most enlightened black rulers have just copied whites' idiocy.
Yes, I didn't think the Obama years were that bad considering how the US did 2008 but got off better than Europe.
That Sierra Leone guy I think.
yes but they all got assasinated shortly after they started doing good work
Sankara comes to mind.
It was certainly better before obama
no, they were all incompetent ruthless murderers
also so where most other dictators
Yes, but the "developed countries" removed them fast.
Kagame and Seretse Khama.
>Seretse Khama.
Not a dictator.
Kwame Nkrumah helped to industrialize Ghana. Mugabe gave a lot of Zimbabweans access to education. Kagame and Museveni have been praised in the West. Houphouet-Boigny and Hastings Banda were also loved by the West. If nothing else, they probably got their countries a lot of western aid. Julius Nyerere seems to have been relatively benevolent and non-corrupt, but his economic development schemes don't seem to have worked out too well.
