Agreed. It’s not always hassle free, especially if you have it on the network, but it’s the least hassle I’ve ever had with a printer by a long shot.

Canon's are way easier to set up and don't require you to register with the NSA. I just gave away an MG3660 or something like that. It was plug-and-play at the new place, no fricking around with apps and shit. Drank ink like a motherfricker though.

I trash picked an MG3550 and I know why it was thrown away. Scanner doesn't work if you don't have cartridges installed. New cartridges costs more than the printer. You can install a CISS system on this one. But you really need to install an external waste ink bottle as well and you need to reset waste ink counter with some proprietary service tool from god knows where.

I cleaned the waste ink pads and the entire printer, reset the counter and sell the damn thing immediately.

Cannot recommend any inkjet printer. Not even ink tank models.

So yeah... it is not wise to recommend garbage like this.

I also got fed up with my ink printer giving me like 20 printing attempts before the cartridge is all dried out because I'm only using it rarely. I bought one of those printers where they don't use cartridges at all, you just pour the ink into the tank and it's like a hundred times cheaper and lasts longer. The printer itself was more expensive but if it works for years then I'm happy. If not then I guess I'll try laser next.

Same, I've gone through multiple printers over the years that, at some point, just stop working. Either they keep whining that the ink cartridge is empty even though I just replaced it, or they refuse to connect to the computer, or some other bullshit issue.

I swear to frick, 99% of printers on the market are intentionally designed to break down and fail after 1-2 years.

Are you sure about that? Because I have this printer since 2003 and it keeps printing and printing. Only needs a little bit of maintenance.

There is none, not modern at least. It's all one big cartel intentionally manufacturing products that break quickly so you will buy more. Did you know printer ink has arbitrary expiry dates? The ink will still work fine but the printer will refuse to use it if the chip indicates it's expired. The printer industry is a good example of what kind of products you get without any regulation.

What if someone would start a company that sells printers that just work? wouldn't they BTFO all competition?

        Anonymous

all of the big manufactures would just drop their prices or lobby against them in some way

Trying to compete against a cartel never works out as they can just cooperate to push you out of the market. That's the big problem with cartels.

For wireless, use Canon. It just werks. Otherwise, stop being a homosexual and get a printer that connects through USB. Zero hassle. Frick wifi printing. HP just happens to be the most incompetent.

My hp printer works fine. Just make sure to block it from reaching the Internet and buy one of this chink pirate ink carts that you can refill.

No wireless printers work properly, in my experience. Buy something that plugs into a USB port.

BTW Brother is doing the same israelite tricks with toner that everyone else is. They supposedly didn't used to, but at some point they started, as I found out a year or two ago when I started researching which printers will take generic third-party toner.

anything that needs to be firewalled off from the internet so that it doesn't frick with you doesn't work, period.

Anon HP hasn't been good since, like, the 70s. At least according to my dad. With respect to printers they were already dogshit by the late 90s.

Absolutely incorrect about the USB port. You buy a printer with an ethernet port then plug that in your router.

Brother printers doing shady things. That is happening on their color laser printers. Most of their cheap laser monochrome printers have no chipped toner cartridges. You reset toner lever with a reset gear on those. Literally nothing to israelite there. And on the models that have chips you can just reset toner level that you can find in the service manual or a video on youtube.

So do not fricking buy any of their color laser printers and for the love of god do not fricking update firmware on your printer. It brings absolutely no improvements. All of them are made to block 3rd party chips.
