    >Life is suffering. Desire leads to suffering.
    >Life is a pendulum that swings between boredom and suffering.
    It's literally exactly the same.

The problem with hinduism is that pajeets are the dominant adherents. They intermingle the philosophy and religion with their own autochthonous rituals and practices. The Bhagvad Gita is probably the most sublime religious book I've ever read. It blows Abrahamic Semitic religion out of the water. Icchantika anon is 100% correct about this.

I like his project. Some years ago I tried to get into Buddhism but the whole thing felt culturally too different. With him, it is more accessible and feels culturally closer

The deeper I got into Buddhism the more it seemed like bullshit. Although the basic ideas are appealing to me.

The Buddha had blue eyes and light skin according to sutras, artwork and statues. Bodhidharma had red hair. Many believe they were white men. The Buddha would’ve been Indo-Aryan. The evidence that The Buddha was a white man is pretty strong.

    >According to Schopenhauer, salvation from our miserable existence can come through the will's being "tranquillized" by the metaphysical insight that reveals individuality to be merely an illusion.
Does Schopenhauer ever get into how to achieve that insight?

I read some of his essays and I really don't have a sufficient level of interest to pick them up again unless I know he addresses my specific interests. Actual Buddhism is now available and much more likely to reduce my suffering than romantic theorycel lit.

That's just hinduism and it's a flawed teaching. Buddhism got it right.

Was this guy the most moronic philosopher to ever live?

No, there are worse. He is pretty bad though. He tries to both accept Kant and refute Kant at the same time, and his refutation of Kant is really just to dismiss him. Kant shows that we can't know the object-in-itself. Schope is like "no, the self is the object-in-itself. It just is lol. Therefore, pajeet faith is true. Therefore life is suffering. Also, music is the object-in-itself despite being percievable because I say so"

Dependent origination is just the principle of sufficient reason applied to explaining suffering.
Whenever the Buddha explains DO, he usually introduces it after explaining the concept of Idappaccayatā, which is essentially the principle of sufficient reason.
When someone attains stream-entry, they do so by realizing Idappaccayatā. After this, they have all the knowledge to attain nirvana without any further external teaching, as they can deduce Dependent Origination on their own. (Although a teacher can still expedite the process)
