You can only exclude an icon view from your file picker for so long before people lose their patience.
It's only Wayland desktops, and it's not absolute numbers, but relative ones. And, considering KDE rose more than 20% while GNOME lost 10% of share, it's safe to say it's not an issue of GNOME sucking, but KDE finally being relevant in Wayland and it's users finally adopting it. If there's a loser in this graph, it's X11.
