Korea does strike me as perhaps the most unique war in the US's history.

It'd normalize the use of nukes in war, which would probably have lead to some kind of nuclear exchange between the US and USSR.
As is that mental fear of nukes was a big part of why that never happened, on top of general concerns about being able to beat the other on both sides.
