Yeah because human achievement is exponential not linear. You build off of past advances and you achieve more in absolute terms. Let's say over a period of time lasting from 1 ad to 500 ad, only 10 major technological/scientific breakthroughs were made, and 7 of them were made in Iran (70% total). And let's take the US and just the 19th century. Let's say out of the 1000 scientific/technology breakthroughs that happened during that century, the US was responsible for 100 (so 10% total). Your assessment would be the US achieved more, but relatively speaking, it didn't. Yes 100 is more than 7, but 70% is much higher than 10%. You have to put it into its appropriate context. The countries /numbers I used were completely random
