It unironically is, modern chromeOS is actually really good now compared to what it used to be. I'm waiting for next gen arm chromebooks, mine is starting to feel old and really slow but 15h battery life + passive cooling + unlimited mobile data = goat

Linux will never be a real UNIX. You have no certification, no direct code from Bell Labs or even Berkeley. All the validation you get is two-faced and half hearted. Behind your back people mock you, saying "He's only 99% POSIX compliant, same as Windows NT". Your friends laugh behind your back. Your parent's are ashamed in knowing you'll never be a real UNIX(tm) compliant workstation like Solaris, SGI or even Mac OS X.
Your libraries are at war with itself and no version of any linux distro will keep running that cool but niche application you're so fond of now. In 4 years your favorite application will stop working and you'll either accept GNU/Linux is a joke or you'll have a nice day in utter despair. It'd be too much to bear. You'll buy a rope and design an overly complex contraption to have a nice day on and it, too, will fail because you're a Redhat developer and that's what all your shit does.

not him but i spent $3k on a gaming rig that I converted to Arch 2 years later. Been running it for over a year now and...there seems to be no real difference. It's not just for poor people. It's for certain kinds of autists.
I just don't have to deal with ads in the start menu, bad start menu search (Windows Power Toys will get you non-terrible search on Windows), and I enjoy GNOME much more. Virtual desktops are terrible on Windows and not great on macOS. The shame of WSL is that this is the only thing you can't fix - the desktop.

It always surprises me when people are quick to dismiss privacy as an important freedom but shill other freedoms. How does a totalitarian government ensure that you cannot practice any of these other freedoms?
By taking away your privacy.
You can't associate with the wrong people anymore because you're always being watched, and you can't say unpopular opinions anymore because they're all tied to you. Freedom of movement, freedom of association and freedom of speech are protected by privacy. If "they" can control where you go, control the way you talk, and control who you talk to, then they can control you.
Voting is a meaningless right. You have no choice. I'm sure there's no relation between the endless school shootings and gun rights. Why is it only the nations with gun rights that have these problems on the scale they do?

it's a cultural problem, most of these people that commit these crimes are mentally ill individuals who have been ostracized from society by the majority.
Most european countries have a lot of issues too, it's just that criminals and terrorists use another methods, and on europe there's not this culture of forgiving anything Black folk and hispanics do like america, if they're basically 90% of crime and people just brush away everything bad they do, it will only worsen the problem.
Basically the main issue america faces is their complete inaction when a child or individual is being mass bullied, this is the principal cause for them to start thinking about murdering their colleagues, I myself did think of murdering my classmates when I was basically bullied by everyone in school and high school, I just didn't do anything, but I could have just taken a knife and start stabbing everyone there.
