The vast majority of Americans in the colonies didn't care about independence since the British never oppressed them. They were the freest people in the world.
How to tell me that you're an asshurt angloid/canuck loyalist without telling me, I wish I could personally tar and feather you just like we did to your limp wristed cowardly ancestors
This is your daily reminder that 95% of the colonists didn't give a single solitary shit about your revolution, and it was all just a scam by a few land and slave owning rich bastards who wanted more power for themselves.

The poor people benefitted a great deal from it for it to just be a plot by the rich.

2) the 'poor people' went from paying no taxes under British rule (which was the case until Washington dragged the colonies and thus Britain into the seven years war) to being taxed and regulated comparatively heavily by the standards of the day
3) The best argument you can make is that they swapped one ruler who was generally happy to leave them the hell alone for a ruler who thought they needed to be governed.

The royal governor of Virginia told Washington to march into the Ohio country and expel any French there.
. Blaming the British taxes and punitive actions against the colonists for protesting said taxes on Washington is childish.

Every attempted invasion of Canada was a fiasco. This little known disaster was the biggest defeat of US naval forces until Pearl Harbor.
It was a reaction to the Royal Proclamation of 1673 that forbade settlements west of the Appalachian Mountains. This enraged the colonists who wanted expansion, and land speculators hungery for profits.
The largest battle did not happen place on American soil, but in Europe at the British fortress of Gibraltar which was besieged for years by a Franco-Spanish army that tried and failed to take the rock with much loss of life and money.
we couldn't have done it without foreign help
the spanish attacked in the west
the dutch gave us money
the french gave us money, arms, and military support
england was an butthole who made a lot of enemies
The two biggest battles of the war were both fought AFTER the Battle of Yorktown, both were British victories, and both didn't involve a single American.

Many Scots Highlanders who supported the 1745 uprising were exiled to North Carolina, but three decades later they supported the crown against the colonists.

nah, the french had their revolution a few years after, neither Spain nor France helped them because they cared about the independence or out of pity but because they hated britain and wanted to secure territory etc
After the battle of Kip's Bay, British General Howe and his staff got cakes and wine from Mary Lindley Murray that lasted several hours. General Howe could have continued a pursuit of Washington's army, but didn't because they were getting free cake and wine. This gave Washington's army time to escape and avoid complete rout and capture.
After Washington got chased out of New York with the capture of Fort Washington and retreated into the New Jersey hinterlands, Howe did have the option of pursuing. Instead he chose to encamp for winter quarters. Most history books/analysis will conclude this is how warfare was conducted at the time and it was normal for Euros to suspend operations when it snowed.
However, Howe had a mistress in NYC, Elizabeth Lloyd Loring who living in Long Island at time. Her husband Joshua apparently didn't object to the affair. Urban legend say the Llyods were Patriots and Joshua willing cucked himself so his wife could seduce Howe into staying in NYC for the winter, and thus spare Washington's army (winter foraging skirmishes were still common but he chose to keep the bulk of the British Army comfortable in NYC).

This, the rebels victory objectively made the American people less free than they had been previously.
