The gays

>pederasty was widespread in most pre-Christian societies, so historians claim that homosexuality was historically prevalent and accepted
>sociologists and other academics now say that attraction to male youths isn't actually homosexual
Does that mean history wasn't actually that gay?

Pederasty is for warrior societies. If you want to have a warrior like society then maybe it’s needed.

        >"Two historians of the Late Empire who wrote after the triumph of Christianity expressed disgust that Germanic tribes practiced pederasty. Ammianus Marcellinus (c. 380 A.D.) mentioned the Taifales, among whom a boy continued in a passive relationship until he slew a bear or boar (Gothic Wars, 2.14). Procopius (c. 550) cited the Heruls, amongst whom youths remained douloi (slaves), presumably sexually available for an adult warrior, and fought without shields until they proved their courage (History, 31, 9. 5)."

You can find similar accounts like this across all warrior societies in history, there seems to be a pattern. However it's important to note that the warriors never got penetrated, but rather usually only did the penetrating, specifically to young males.

Right. Because all Germanic tribes were exactly the same across hundreds of years just because they spoke a similar language.

Pederasty in ancient societies was ritual initiation as pointed out. Moderns don't understand this because we haven't had a need for warrior societies like we used to for a very long time, so the ritual significance of the practice has long since been forgotten and is now alien to us. We look at the practice and think "lol they were gay" when it had nothing to do with that.

The power of male ritual elders in all societies, including ours today, is that of approval. Giving special attention to the sexuality of young men meant approving their most primal energy, which made them better warriors.

No, that just said old men ruled over the rest, nothing about pederasty nor homosexual behaviour, it's common sense and related to the smallest tribe there is, which is the family, that elder men guide the rest

no need to be gay with their sexuality and it is not explained why should be, so no, you're wrong, homosexual

That's not being gay. It was about approving young men's primal energy in a deeper sense in order for them to fully let loose in battle, which was a more violent frenzy than it is today due to differences in technology.

First premise is false. There existing degenerates here and there doesnt make whole civilizations sodomitic, which is what they like to imply for propaganada purposes.

First century roman philosopher Musonius Rufus:
'But of all sexual relations those involving adultery are most unlawful, and no more tolerable are those of men with men, because it is a monstrous thing and contrary to nature.'
    So, basic morality.
