Historically, there were many cultural similarities throughout the IE world. However, these connections have become greatly diluted over time. The languages have changed to the point that a casual observer would never link Modern English with Modern Persian, except maybe in a very few words. And of course, most IE speakers adopted Abrahamic religions, the only exception being the Indo-Aryan speakers, but even they now practice a religion that's quite different from the old Vedic religion; I've read that Indra (the Vedic thunder god, somewhat analogous to Zeus and Thor) now has more temples in Japan than in India due to his playing a role in Buddhism.

Initially perhaps but not anymore. The slavs being a much later subbranch of the family are all pretty close to each other, but overall the groups are not very similar. Keep in mind some groups have branched off literally thousands of years ago, and I don't just mean the anatolian group, and the european/indian group (from each other). The last common ancestor of the slavs and the germans was probably around 4500 years old (if you believe modern scientists that is but I dunno where to get alternative data).
The similarities are there for sure but thare are way too few. the conjugation for the word "to be" is pretty similar, also some forms of very common verbs such as should or have to. A few words here and there. Nothing special.
There is a reason it took scientists until the 19th century to figure out all these languages are related, and that's simply because there is not much in common. The few similarities can be easily shrugged off, and the religions differed way too much due to syncretism and evolution to be a good marker. Roman paganism was heavily based on greek paganism, which in turn inherited a lot from middle east semitic peoples, and the "barbarians" had their fair share of playing around with the roles. In slavic mythology the god "Veles" plays the role of both Dionysus, Hades and Pan (kinda), while Perún was Zeus and Mars. The romans noticed the similarities in religion, but they did not really think much of it (for some reason).
