Theoretically population exchanges, beyond that giving muslims their own state was meant to avoid complete repression. Muslims in India may have little political influence, but Muslims in Pakistan don't. Your question is like asking "what's the point of Azerbaijan if Azeris still live in Armenia.

Pakistan is preventing India from controlling 1.6 billion people. Back then people thought India would inevitably civilize.

Pakistan is less crowded than India. In some ways it's better to live in because it's less competitive and a little colder.
Pakistan is a corrupt 3rd world shithole but it many ways it is better than India imo.
Compared to India it is far less crowded, far cleaner (though still dirty by 1st World standards), and people are nicer and more hospitable. You won't see people shitting on the street or on the beach, for example. The capital city of Islamabad is incredibly clean and organized, there's honestly nothing like that in India. The weather is also better (colder and less humid) and the actual landscape of Pakistan is beautiful, especially in the North and in Balochistan. Cities like Quetta regularly get snow. Pakistani women are also noticeably better looking than Indian women.
On the other hand, it is (marginally) poorer than India (at least in big cities) and violent crime is much bigger in Pakistan than in India. Unlike India, Pakistan has very lax gun laws and literally everyone has a gun. Gangland shootings and armed robbery are common in big cities like Karachi. India also has much better internet infrastructure. Indian women, at least in the cities, are far more sexually liberal than their Pakistani counterparts and generally speaking it is WAY easier to get laid in India (as a white guy).

Don't get me wrong, Pakistan is quite dirty by Western standards (and even Middle Eastern standards) but still far cleaner than India. For example, public defecation in cities (usually along railroad tracks and on the side of the street) is very common in India but I've honestly never seen it in Pakistan.

India CAN'T deal with the Muslim problem without getting nuked. That's the entire point of Pakistan and Bengal: to saddle India with two completely incoherent and violent neighboring states so that it is always locked in an unproductive struggle with them. The geopolitics of the region were setup this way by the Brits, Chinese, US, and Russians on purpose. The Indosphere is setup like this to keep India busy with unproductive bullshit for as long as possible so another global player doesn't enter the stage.
The reason that it's Pakistan and not Sri Lanka or some weird Dravidian ethnostate or something is because, as the British learned and frequently attested, Muslims were complete morons, hyper-violent, and easily lead by authority figures. Indians meanwhile have an entire caste dedicated to politics and have a social system that not only encourages but rewards doing what they say. It's far harder to control Hindus WHERE IT MATTERS than it is Muslims. Because Muslims are concerned with random bullshit, like which hand to wipe your ass with, they can easily be set against the Hindus because the very existence of the Hindu is a problem for the Muslim. Hindus can't even solve their street shitting problem because they're too busy being attacked by Muslims (or so the theory goes).
