it's also puzzling that the can is US but is in English and French. Where in the US would you find food products with french as the second language and not spanish???
>99% fat free
Who talks like this? Just say it's leaner than pork and beef.
Also it's probably salted to high heavens and way overpriced (per pound) compared to whole chicken or frozen chicken fillets that would take 1% effort to cook in bulk and can or freeze yourself for a quick meal, if you consider a portion of protein without any sides a "meal".
Robert Ayars established the first American canning factory in New York City in 1812, using improved tin-plated wrought-iron cans for preserving oysters, meats, fruits and vegetables.
Modified food starch is used as a food additive, typically to thicken or stabilize a food product, or as an anti-caking agent. In the United States when wheat is used as an ingredient, it must be declared on the label as modified wheat starch or modified food starch (wheat).
Shelf stability is a big deal for some applications. My family pantry at our lake cabin isstock full of canned meats and fruits, vegetables because we leave it empty for months at a time and turn off the power when we aren't around.
Its also very popular with hikers, backpackers, transients, and vagabond trash of all stripes.
If meat spoiled to the point of inediblity that quickly we would never have made it as a hunter gatherer species. Current food laws and practices are based on an obscene abundance of caution and a level of wealth that allows society to throw out tons of food everyday with no consequence to food security. It is a good problem to have, but historically abnormal.
ive tried and they both rot within hours, and definitely spoil within 8 hours. so how do hobos manage? do they eat 4 days worth of protein from a can in one go? how do they stay full the whole day?
How much of a bugman do you have to be to buy canned chicken

they probably sell it in Canada too
Louisiana.
I see that all the time
New England, even as far south as Connecticut
thicken the chicken!
its actually pretty healthy. 99% fat free and doesn't have to be defrosted, making it a handy alternative for a quick meal.

I only use it for chicken salad
Only dumb fat morons think animal fat is bad for you. Enjoy dying to the sodium, nitrates, s-o-y and seedoils tho.
They're worse than plant fats generally speaking, but obviously you need fat in your diet.
canned chicken is good

Literally a french product as you can see in the image
>Inspected by US Department of Agriculture

The french send their cans to us for inspection
Fair enough. But how tf I been alive for so long and never ever heard of canned chicken?
it's like canned tuna
the can says "prepared for Costco Wholesale Canada"
that's why it has french. I'm guessing it's an American import to Canada?

So what does the starch do lads?
It's added to keep the chicken from congealing
Also, canned chicken is a solid food to give to the poor, poor mans stews and given away at food pantries.
*Used for poor man's stews
no you were right the first time
hmm
how do hobos eat a whole can throughout the whole day, wouldnt it get spoiled?

Chicken in a can is made different
ive tried and they both rot within hours, and definitely spoil within 8 hours. so how do hobos manage? do they eat 4 days worth of protein from a can in one go? how do they stay full the whole day?
buy smaller cans. OP pic is just 60 calories. or I guess if you're in a camp with other hobos you can combine your resources and that's not a problem.
OP pic is 4 servings, you're only supposed to eat 3 in a day.
But now that you've mentioned it they probably have one serving cans, I've just never seen them.
Are you litterate?
